Changes for the 2014 Ford Mustang:
In its final year before a complete redesign, the 2014 Mustang is offered with a new 17-inch wheel design, a new Appearance Package, and new paint colors. The Boss 302 model is discontinued.
The 2014 Ford Mustang is sold as a coupe or a convertible in V6, GT, and Shelby GT500 model series.

The 2014 Mustang GT is equipped with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine producing 420 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 390 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. The manual gearbox is standard; the automatic is optional.
Shelby GT500 models have the most powerful series production V-8 engine in the world. It generates 662 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 631 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. A beefed-up 6-speed manual is the only transmission offered for the Shelby.
Fuel Economy Ratings:
In combined driving, the Mustang Shelby GT500 gets 18 mpg while the Mustang V6 returns 23 mpg with the automatic transmission. The Shelby requires premium gas, while the GT needs premium to make its top power ratings.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2014 Mustang Coupe a 4-star overall rating. Note that the car gets a 3-star protection rating for rear seat occupants in a side-impact collision. All other assessments are rated 4 stars or 5 stars.
In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Mustang Coupe gets a “Good” rating for moderate offset frontal-impact protection, an “Acceptable” rating for side-impact protection, and a “Good” rating for rear-impact injury prevention. The IIHS has not assessed the Mustang Coupe’s roof crush strength, and it has not subjected the car to its new small overlap frontal-impact test as this summary is written.
The 2014 Mustang is not as low-tech as many people assume. It comes standard with MyKey programmable vehicle safety features, and can be equipped with Sync Bluetooth connectivity including AppLink services and a 911 Assist system that can summon rescuers to the scene of a collision if the car’s airbags deploy. A reversing camera is optional, as well as a navigation system and Track Apps technology for owners who want to measure their antics on a closed racetrack.
