Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Engine performance
Cons: The rattling noise under the hood every now and then.
Advice: But it and Enjoy it.This is my best car ever. The first month I drove down the street, kids were eying it like crazy. My kids love it too but my wife hates it calling it a low rider. It can pass anyone on the freeway. The engine is the best and it kicks down with a roar. I had the exhaust pipes repaired twice. Once the gasket got blown off and another time it needed a total replacement. Both times were covered by the extended warranty. I had the catalytic converter and the oxygen sensor replaced each once. The car had the rattling sound under the hood. I did not bother to get it fixed. Who cares about the noise, it is a muscle car and it roars like a mustang unlike those loud muffler sounds from those Honda Civic. The stero is outstanding. It rocks with my Linkin Park CD and the new car costed me only 15000 with zero % interest. What a deal. I am still loving it.
Pros: The drop top
Cons: The seats need to be more sporty.
Advice: beware of insurance pricesI have a 2002 Mustang GT conv. Stock it isnt the fastest car out there, i was actually a little disapointed with performance at first. I did put a 4.10 gear in it and had a custom chip put in, the best thousand dollars i ever spent. Now when a camaro wants to race, all he sees is the back of my car. I love the way it looks and handles, definitley a car to that makes me feel and look pretty darn cool. And being able to drop the top at a touch of a button, now thats smoothe. I have a 67 fastback and my 2002 conv. In either car I always get stares, I think that says a little something..
Cons: mechanical problems, seatbelts
Advice: Too many problems, buy a.......In and out of shop before a year had gone by and still trying to get Ford to fix, latest is clutch problems w/out ext. warranty ???? Morning cold start noises have been fixed twice, seatbelts twist alot and back one locked will not move in or out. Brakes wear quickly, new rotors, pads, etc. twice already. But it does look nice on the outside.
Cons: when it stalled at 60 mph when I tapped on the brake, causing loss of control
Advice: I loved my 2002 Firebird, no trouble thereMy 2003 Mustang has stalled 5 times at moderate to high speeds, been in the shop 4 times(14 days), and they cannot find the defect. They won a 5th look at it when I went thru their arbitration. I have 2 witnesses, a mechanic and a friend at the Sheriffs Department. My car has 30,943 miles on it and a 75,000 mile warranty. I haven't used the car in 3 months out of fear of death or injury. I have found other newer Mustang owners have had the same problem. I do not recommend this vehicle. You cannot use power steering when you lose power, it is very dangerous.
Pros: Styling and Color
Cons: Quality and Engineering
Advice: If you just have to buy itThe car has great looks and styling, but it all ends there. In the first year I owned the car it was in the dealership more than a dozen times for service, a new water pump, then an issue with the brakes, it took Ford 4 tries to fix that. Power window out in the 2nd year as well as a trans problem that took Ford Engineering to fix, this after 5 trips back to the dealership. In total this car has spent 2 full months in the service department. Also with a sticker price of $26,255 you get no under the hood light, I will never buy Ford again, I'm glad I bought and extended warranty with this car.
Pros: The engine and the sound
Cons: Cheep plastic parts in the interior
Advice: Buy one you will be well pleased. It is a sports car not a Town Car. So the cheep plastic comes with it.I bought a 2000 black GT new. But, keeping the black clean was an every week chore. So I traded it for a 2002 Satin Silver Premium coupe. I LOVE MY CAR! I only drive it about 200 miles a month but, I enjoy it when I do. The women love it too.
