First Look: New 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
Ford hit a homerun last year with the introduction of the all-new Ford Fusion Hybrid. Given the major improvements made in 2010, it's not all that surprising to learn the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid returns with only a few minor changes. Keep reading to learn what's new on the new 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid and review vehicle specs, features and mpg ratings.
What's New - 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
The only changes to the 2011 Fusion come in the category of available features. Ford adds extra value by making blind-spot mirrors and their MyKey System standard for all vehicle models. MyKey is a safety feature that allows parents to put limits on vehicle top speed and stereo volume to encourage safe driving among teens.
New optional features include HD radio, one-touch up and down front windows and more versatile power adjustments for the front seats. Ford also adds a new Luxury package that includes chrome exterior embellishments, leather seats, illuminated front door sills and different alloy wheels.
Styling - New 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion Hybrid is for those who want all the benefits of a hybrid car, while still maintaining the look and feel of a conventional sedan. Those who like to keep it low-key will enjoy the fact that the subtle exterior hybrid badging is the only way to tell the difference between a hybrid Fusion and traditional gas Fusion. The vehicle's angular, crisp exterior lines are also a nice change from the traditional curvaceous frames of many gas sippers.
Inside, upscale quality also serves to help the Fusion Hybrid distance itself from the competition. Soft-touch materials and recycled interior components perfectly blend comfort with eco-consciousness. Cabin space is ample for five passengers. However, at 11.8 cubic feet, rear trunk space is a bit limiting (also note the rear seat does not fold forward).

Performance - New 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
Last year, the Ford Fusion proved itself to be one of the most fun-to-drive hybrid cars for the year. A return of the previous 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine helps ensure that drivers will have nothing to complain about for the 2011 year. Total output for the hybrid registers at an impressive 191 horsepower.
Despite the engine power, the Fusion delivers true hybrid fuel economy. EPA estimates suggest 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. While the 2011 Toyota Prius beats these figures, more conventional models - such as the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid - fall far below what the Fusion offers.

Safety - New 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
Standard features for the 2011 Fusion Hybrid include anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, six airbags and rear parking sensors. For a little more, drivers can also add a rearview camera and blind-spot warning system. In crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2011 Fusion scored a best-possible overall rating of "Good."
Pricing - New 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid
The new 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid comes with an initial asking price of $28,825. While a little pricey compared to similarly equipped traditional gas sedans, most owners will tell you that the price is well worth it. Base features are above and beyond what is found on more affordable hybrids, and include dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless-entry security pad, auto headlamps, cruise control, Ford Sync and much more.
