2014 Ford Fiesta - Titanium HatchbackChange Make/Model
2014 Ford Fiesta Summary
Changes for the 2014 Ford Fiesta:
Ford makes substantial changes to the 2014 Fiesta. Styling is refined, and new options include a premium audio system with HD Radio, MyFord Touch technology, and MyKey programmable safety features. The optional PowerShift dual-clutch automated manual transmission is further refined for 2014, and Ford offers a new turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine as an option, giving the Fiesta a much-needed adrenalin injection. The Fiesta ST is new for 2014, a performance-tuned model with credible hardware upgrades.
Both of the 2014 Fiesta’s body styles are available in S, SE and Titanium trim levels, while the performance-oriented ST model comes only in 5-door hatchback format.
Upgrading to SE trim adds power windows, cruise control, remote keyless entry, MyKey safety technology, a nicer interior, upgraded exterior trim, and aluminum wheels. The Fiesta Titanium is equipped with leather, automatic climate control, a MyFord Touch infotainment system, a premium sound system, a reversing camera, rear parking assist sensors, and passive keyless entry with push-button engine starting.
Fiesta ST models have unique styling, a sport suspension, better brakes, sport seats, and 17-inch wheels with more aggressive tires.
Engines and Transmissions:
The standard engine for all models except the Fiesta ST is a 120-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox or Ford’s 6-speed PowerShift automated manual gearbox.
During the model year, a new turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine arrives as an option, making 123 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque, a substantial increase in twist over the base engine. This engine is also expected to provide better fuel economy than the 1.6-liter motor.
Fiesta ST models have a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder whipping up 197 horsepower and 202 lb.-ft. of torque starting at just 2,500 rpm, plenty for a hot hatch weighing just over 2,700 pounds. A 6-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission choice for the ST model.
Fuel Economy Ratings:
As this summary is published, the EPA has rated the standard 1.6-liter engine and the Fiesta ST. In combined driving, the standard engine returns 31 mpg with the manual gearbox, 32 mpg with the optional PowerShift transmission, and 34 mpg when equipped with the optional Super Fuel Economy Package. The racy Fiesta ST is predicted to return 29 mpg in combined driving.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2014 Fiesta a 4-star overall crash-test rating, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) calls the 2014 Fiesta a “Top Safety Pick.” Note, however, that the IIHS has not tested the Fiesta’s small overlap frontal-impact crash-test performance.
Fiestas equipped with Sync Bluetooth connectivity include 911 Assist service, which activates after an airbag deployment to help speed rescuers to the scene of the accident. MyKey programmable safety features allow the Fiesta’s owner to program speed alerts and limits, stereo volume limits, and seat belt use requirements in addition to defeating the ability to turn off the stability control system.
