New 2011 Ford Fiesta Offers High Levels of Personalization
Ford Motor Company is continuing to come up with innovative ideas to get more people into its new subcompact hatchback and sedan, the 2011 Ford Fiesta. Following a similar marketing strategy as Toyota's Scion division, Ford will be offering a wide variety of options and accessories on the Fiesta in an attempt to make the Fiesta highly customizable to fit the preferences of its drivers. To capitalize off the popular Fiesta Movement as well as the $27 billion automotive aftermarket and accessory industry, Ford is offering the Ford Fiesta with a new level of personalization including exterior and interior options that give each car a custom look straight from the factory.
So far, the plan appears to be paying off as Ford claims that Fiesta buyers are choosing upgraded options about twice as often as buyers of other current Ford models. Of the new options, the most unique is easily the vinyl body graphics that give consumer cars a personality close to what the Fiesta agents drove around in last year. These graphics are available in a number of shapes and designs as well as a body-side 'tattoo'? that spells out Fiesta along the side of the car.
"The Fiesta already offers customers a range of options to make it their own, from unique exterior colors to interior seating combinations, but with the addition of our accessory options, consumers can take Fiesta personalization to the next level," said Sam De La Garza, Ford Fiesta brand manager. "Each of the accessories adds a unique flavor to Fiesta, and everybody agrees they can find an accessory or graphic that matches their personality."
Besides the unique body graphics, owners can also spice up the look of their Fiesta with options like a four-piece body kit, rear roof spoiler and a handful of roof rack options to carry anything from bicycles to kayaks. Inside, the Fiesta offers numerous options for owners to choose from such as the ambient LED cabin lighting and the LED-illuminated accents on the front door sill plates and the gear shifter. The ambient lighting provides for color-changing lights in the cupholders and front foot wells with seven different colors to choose from. A stowable front center armrest is also an option, and it provides a convenient storage area that easily folds up between the front seats. Of course, one of the most popular interior options on the new Fiesta is Ford SYNC which will deliver a high-quality hands-free infotainment system that is unmatched in this segment.
Most of the options are available as à la carte items, but there are three main packages that are getting ordered frequently by customers. On the outside, the exterior protection package adds splash guards and a rear bumper protector, and the interior protection package adds all-weather floor mats and rear cargo area protector. The final option package that Ford says is popular right now is the illuminated interior accessory package that comes with LED-illuminated accessories for the front door sill plates and the gear shifter.
As for pricing of the 2011 Ford Fiesta, the sedan is available in three trim levels (S, SE and SEL) with a starting MSRP of $13,320, while the five-door hatchback comes in just two trim levels (SE and SES) starting at $15,120. While pricing wasn't released for any of the accessories, customers can check out the new options at their local Ford dealership or Ford's website at www.fordaccessories.com.
