Pros: The ride
Cons: Ride and looks
Advice: You will have to be the judge of what you want,I do know they are haveing a LOT of problems with headgaskets. We purchased this truck new on 9/24/04 and it did a good job untill 8/31/05.It overheated with just short of 14,000 mileas on it.The truck was in the shop from 9/1/05 untill 9/12/05 for head gaskets. The next day 9/13/05 it stranded us on the WV turnpike with a broken turbo hose clamp. On the following day 9/14/05 the check engine light came on and we were stranded for two days while a turbocharger was installed. On 10/25/05 the main fuel line came loose at the secondary filter which is located on the engine and we were again stranded, the truck was taken to a ford dealer on the 10/26/05 for a complete safty inspection and cleaning. On 11/7/05 the truck stranded us 16 miles from home and had to be towed to another ford dealer, they replaced the high pressure oil pump and sending unit.On 12/31/05 it went to the dealer again for rearend noise and drive shaft noise. It is still there awaiting a rear drive shaft, pinon bearing and carrier bearings for the punkin assembly. What will happen next is a good guess, soon they will have almost rebuilt the truck.
Pros: interior comfort & layout
Cons: not being able to get power tow mirrors on the xl model
Advice: get the zf 6 speed manual transbought new put 11314 miles on it so far not one problem.powerstroke diesel is exelent! 6 speed zf manual trans shifts extremely smooth and easy.truck rides smoother than my 2004 f250 does on rough pavement.this is the absolute best pickup i have ever owened or driven.this newer 363 cubic inch diesel is a little better than the cummings in the dodge.the rest of the truck esoecially the frame, twin I-beam suspension,& the dana 80 rear axle are far superior to the dodge or chevrolet.i get 16.4 mpg in la around town driving got 18.1 on the hwy running 65 mph.
Pros: the power of the 6.0L and the ride comfort
Cons: the price of diesel fuel in California ($2.62/gal)
Advice: Get one soon!In less than 2 months I have driven over 9000 miles: South Lyon, Mich. to Stockbridge, Mass. picked up a U-haul trailer, loaded it with furniture and drove it to Laguna Beach, Calif. by way of Kansas City, Mo. and Denver, Colorado. The 6.0L diesel performed flawlessly at in all conditions and at all speeds(ask the Kansas State trooper outside of Pratt, Kansas), loaded or unloaded and especially over the pass thru the rockies west of Denver.
