2015 Ford F-150 First Drive and Video Review

Ford’s F-Series lineup of pickup trucks has been an industry leader for decades, as well as one of the brand’s most consistent top selling models. As of the 2015 model year, this family of trucks is in its 13th generation. Ford has made some serious changes for this year, including a totally new body design constructed entirely of aluminum instead of steel. The aluminum body reduces the vehicles’ weight by 500 pounds for smaller trucks and up to 700 pounds for larger trucks. This helps Ford earn drastically better fuel economy numbers from the EPA and helps dispel the myth that pickup trucks are, by their very nature, inefficient. Benjamin Hunting, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, drove a new 2015 Ford F-150 to see how else it compares to the previous model year. Ford brought in a handful of new engine options for the 2015 F-150, now that the powertrain doesn’t have to haul around as much weight. New offerings include a 3.5-liter EcoBoost. The top-of-the-line 6.2-liter V8 engine is gone from the F-150 lineup, though, and will only be available on Ford’s Super Duty truck models. Several trim levels enable buyers plenty of options to customize the new 2015 Ford F-150.
