2008 Ford F-150 Foose Edition Preview – New York Auto Show: So you're Ford, and for donkey's years you've been the Leader of the Free World when it comes to full-size trucks. Then the worst thing happens: your competition starts selling more trucks than you do, and it's a good two or so years before your new and improved F-150 can come out of the barn and give ‘em a good hidin'. What do you do in the meantime? You call up the extraordinary Chip Foose and get him to build one bad-ass truck to steal some thunder away from those Silverado/Tundra folks.

What's Under the Hood

Close your eyes nice and tight, and, for a moment, you just may see the Ford SVT Lightning in the shadow of the F-150 Foose Edition. It's not, of course, but that may have been the last time such a performance truck wore the blue oval. Available later this year, there's no telling how many Foose Editions Ford will build, but expect them to sell for more than $50,000. One thing's for sure: if you're into high-powered, teeth-rattling trucks, start saving your pennies. The F-150 Foose Edition gets 22-inch wheels under a lowered ride height, and a supercharged V8 engine that musters 450 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. And oh, yeah: racing stripes. Did you say gas was three bucks a gallon?
