    2002 Ford Explorer Sport - Value Manual (200A) 4x4

    Pros: Value

    Cons: Harsh ride.

Advice: Buy it for its value

If you need 4 wheel drive and a v-6, in an SUV, this is you best value. I got my 2001 with 13k for unde r17k. This vehicle tows a 3000 pound boat with ease, has a great turning radius, breaking, looks, stereo and overall quality. One concern: it really registers bumps in the road; but this is a small wheel based SUV. For under 17k for a near new SUV, this is the way to go.

    2002 Ford Explorer Sport - Value Manual (200A) 4x4

Pros: Stereo System, Moonroof, Whole Appearance & Comfort

Cons: A bit bumpy, but I guess that is what I get after driving a car!

Advice: Test drive it, you'll love it too!! Go for all the extras, they make it even better!!

I love my new SUV!!! This has everything I was looking for in a fun yet practical vehicle. I got the upper end model with a 6 CD changer, moonroof, and awesome color. I couldn't have came upon a better vehicle at another time. The look is sleek and cool, you will be turning heads in this one especially if you have the stereo system cranked up. Can't say anything bad about my new car, I can't expect to have gotten anything else!!!

    2002 Ford Explorer Sport - Value Manual (100A) 4x2

    Pros: Standard 6 Cylinder

Cons: Plastic front seat recline levers. They used to be metal.

Advice: Test drive it. Its a 2DR with a shorter wheelbase so it does drive a little differently from 4DR SUVs.

I am a repeat Explorer Sport owner. I previously had a 1999 model. Now on to the 2002. For someone who doesn't need 4 doors, wants an SUV but not a land barge, likes a sporty style, and wants 6 cylinders... I don't think the Sport can be beat. I really liked Chevy's new Trailblazer and have always loved the look of Toyota's 4Runner. But, I kept coming back to the Explorer Sport. It had the major features that I wanted for a lower price. Differences from 1999 to 2002? Much smoother ride. Lower ground clearance, larger wheels, quieter engine. Rear console radio controls and air vents on the 2002. White guage background versus black. My 1999 model had slightly quicker acceleration. I believe the gear ratios on the 2002 may be different from my 1999, but the power is still there when you need it. I did notice a few interior pieces on the 2002 that are plastic now versus metal on my 1999. However, overall I do think the 2002 is an improvement. It feels more refined. Bottom line, this is a great little SUV. You can buy this truck in the low $20Ks and still get a standard 6 cylinder engine. In my experience, you have to spend more on other models to get that same power.

    2002 Ford Explorer Sport - Value Manual (200A) 4x4

    Pros: Comfort, Styling, and brakes

Cons: Pricey, but well worth it!

Advice: Test drive the others, and then be amazed by the smoothness of the Explorer!

This is an unbelievable vehicle! I thought it would be a tough switch, coming from my last car (a 3000gt) but after driving the Explorer, I don't even miss the Mitsubishi. The brakes are unbelievable! The stereo is also amazing. The transmission is so smooth, the Explorer seems a little weak until you realize just how fast you are going. The Explorer has plenty of power, they just did a really good job hiding it. The interior comfort, fit and finish, and exterior are superior to any of the other mid-range suv's. I love driving this wonderful machine. You do feel some of the bumps, but it is an suv; although I think it drives better than most cars. I can't think of anything I would change. I used to think imports were superior, but Ford has changed my mind about the quality of American vehicles. Congratulations Ford for creating a near perfect suv!
