Pros: decent fuel mileage
Cons: rough riding off roadgood servicable vehicle
Cons: Noisey InteriorHad a 2004 went up to a 2008 Escape 2.3 automatic. We love it and fuel economy is wonderful. No air on and the vehicle will get 28 MPG with air 22.6 average. It does lack the power but using the transmission you can move out as quick as you want. Kind of noisey on the inside as result of all the plastic and carbon fiber. Great sound system and we love the Sat Radio. Solid vehicle, handles well and very comfortable to drive.
Reliable vehicleEnjoy driving the vehicle is enough room for a small family
car was ok
Pros: styling, power, room in cabin
Cons: seats, speedo
Advice: Really look it over to make sure its what you wantMy Escape overall is a good truck. It gets good gas millage bettween 22 and 25 with a 4 cylinder. plenty of leg room for taller drivers. The radio and A/C controls I like alot there large and easy to use while driving. Some of the things Ford could of done to improve the truck was put better seats in they are a little to firm. The quality is good except on the bumpers the back i'm afraid to stand on it afraid itll fall off, and the front facia grab the grill and shake it around the whole front flexes that cheap to me. My biggest complaint about the truck is the speedo its impossible to tell where exactly your 5's are (ie. 55,65) that could get you in trouble with the law. But Overall its a good truck.
Cons: filling the gas tank
Advice: mileage isn't as good as I had hopedWe have two Ford Escapes - and there is something wrong with the gas tanks - when filling it up - it clicks off constantly - takes forever to fill the tank up - head rests are stuff - I took them all out - other wise I like the car. I get 15 miles per gallon around town. GC N.Y.
Pros: Keypad on the car door.
Cons: The headrest. It pushes your head forward and down. I need a back pillow to see straight ahead without neck strain.
Advice: It isn't the Explorer. Check Service Hours. Be sure that the Service Team will work with you and your schedule for drop off and pick-up of vehicle when being serviced.Until Ford Service has me owning the 2008 Escape that I bought 2 months ago, I cannot say it is better than average. Since my purchase, the rear brakes were recalled and replaced. Within 2 days of the replacement, the noise is back. The service tech rode with me and agrees it could be brakes or suspension. The engine - once so quiet you wouldn't know the car was on is now not so quiet and there are pings and a softer thumping. I miss the hand holds and internal trunk lock from the Explorer.
