Advice: Buy a Ford EconolineAvoid these vehicles. We bought 8 of these for a delivery company in st louis and its possible they will put us out of business. They are the most unreliable vans we have evered owned. I wouldn't buy one again even if they were cheaper than a ford or chevy.

I love the idea of the sprinter, but I truly believe that it would have been a much better truck if Dodge would have built it. I love my truck. I love the storage. I love the room. I don't miss bring out the tarp on rainy days. But I have had continual problems with the studipest stuff. Mechanically, she it awesome. The motor is great, the tranny strong and she has never let me down. The lox have been a problem. The keys are not strong. They break easily, once in the ignition and once in the door. The lock motor failed in the on the side door, causing me to have an unsecure door for three weeks. Not good. The brakes wear out in 36000 miles. Pathetic. Then there's the headlights. I had to replace 4 in the first year. After taking it in and having the Dodge guys look at a Mercedes, the problem continued until I fixed it. I never owned a Mercedes, and after owning the Sprinter, I never will. I think Dodge would have built a better vehicle. They know Americans are tough on our trucx. But we love 'em. We'd be nothing without 'em.

Advice: Ask lots of questions about EGR valveI really like the Sprinter and how it handles. I am however disappointed that transimission problems seem to be hard to find when you take it in until AFTER the warranty on it runs out.

Advice: dont buy unless you are wealthy with money to burnAs an expediter the concept of this vehicle made great sense, until I put it to work, with continual breakdowns and having vehicle out of service to order parts they should have in stock, 2 engines and a transmission later I am driving a chevy.

Advice: Have the dealer check the color of the transmission fluid at appx. 50,000 mi.I bought a 2003 sprinter with 28,000 miles on it last summer for use as a cargo van. 50,000 miles later I am very satisfied with the vehicle with the exception of not having a transmission dipstick. The dipstick is a Dealer Only tool that the owner cannot order. At 80,000 miles I changed the fluid, as prescibed in the owners manual, and because I had notice some top gear shuddering in the drive line at moderate throttle under load at 1,800 - 2,200 rpm. The fluid was dark colored when I drained it. Had I been able to check the fluid color during regular fluid checks I would have changed it far earlier. I would like to see the manufacturer make the stick available to order for the consumer. All in all, a great economical commercial vehicle that has only a few quirks. I believe that in a few years we will see many more on US roads.
