Pros: cruise control
Advice: not a dependable car, cheap car, you get what you pay fortransmission locked up @ 40,000 miles
Pros: the stereo.
Cons: overall quality of the car.
Advice: make sure it's worth it to you as a consumer.rides decently smooth, it is quiet, it lacks power. It does not get the mileage for fuel that it states. I noticed all this within months of buying this car. I did not know it has poor ratings in crash tests.
Pros: the sport look
Cons: slow passing other cars
Advice: check your insurance mind went from 700 a year to 1400 poor crash ratingI have owned mostly GM products a Z28 - Z24 - Bonneville - Lesaber- but I was ready for something small and fuel conscious-so I purchased a neon sxt Heres the warning I didn’t get expect your insurance to more then double They said its rates poorly in crash and over all safety. So I may have to sale and go to a safer car.
Pros: bang for the buck
Cons: It doesn't ride like a Park Ave!
Advice: If you want a 4-door sedan that gives you the most for your $ take another look at the NeonI wanted to get the best deal I could on a new 4-door sedan and I wound-up with a Neon SXT. I wanted a well-equipped car so I wouldn't get sick of it. $2,500 cash back off the invoice price made this an irresistable deal, and the classy newer-style headlamps, fog lamps, spoiler, sunroof, indigo-lit instruments, and 7-spoke 15' aluminum wheels make it look sporty as hell. It has a great stereo, too. It looks and feels well made. The paint is perfect. It's roomy inside for a small car. I've had small cars before, Honda, Nissan, that was 15 years ago. 132 HP is almost twice what I'm used to in a car this size. The engine isn't loud, it's surprisingly smooth, and I like the throaty sound and acceleration you get around 4000 rpms or so. It's easy to speed with, even with an automatic, which shifts when and how I expect one to. It's wider, longer, and has more suspension travel than other compacts. I live in Buffalo where the roads suck, so that was a big consideration! West Herr Dodge was fast, no BS, and had the car I wanted which is loaded except for side airbags and 6-disk CD changer. I got the most car for my money, and it happens to look great!
Advice: buyer bewareI got this car in january 2005. Love it until today. Driving down the road with my family my car caught on fire. With 'the added safety feature' I had to crawl back into a burning car to get my 5 year old son out of it. Because after I turned off the engine and got out to get my son out of his car seat I couldn't open the doors. I had to get back in the car to unlock the back. Fortunately we were all fine. But I dont think I will own another neon again. There was no warning other that smoke right before the flames.
Pros: My favorite feature is the SRT style with the oversized spolier, the dual exhaust and the hood.
Cons: I really dont care for the material of the seats, they feel a little cheap.
Advice: Great car for the money, but I proably should of spent a little more and got the SRT-4 Neon and got the turbo engine and the better interior.Great ride, has a little more UMPH than the standard SXT but not near as fast as the SRT-4. It handles great.
Cons: Engine, Transmission, Brakes, Suspension
Advice: Do not buy a dodge, or especially a neon. This car has approximately 50K miles on it. It was purchased new with 13 miles on it. At about 35-40K miles the car hesitates, runs very rough and misfires badly. I have changed the plugs, wires, and ignition coil. The injectors are pulsing correctly as is the ignition coil firing correctly. I have yet to determine what the problem is but replacing all of that guarantees its an internal mechanical problem, either compression, valves sticking. Also I am hearing a ticking sound from it now also. Oil changed at 4K mile intervals. Please anyone else that has this problem contact me ASAP.
