With a top speed north of 200 mph and 707 hp beneath the hood, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat may give some folks the idea that it puts performance before all else. But such really isn't the case, and that's why the car was just named the "Star of the Show" at the 2014 South Florida International Auto Show in Miami.

Explained Bill Adam, president of the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA), which presented the award: "The new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has quickly captured the world's imagination.

"Other automotive manufacturers have made high horsepower vehicles over the years, but none comes close to this one. Dodge has built a family-capable performance sedan that is sinister and powerful looking, while still able to achieve impressive gas mileage, making this car the 2014 Star of the Show."

Now, just to be clear, the actual EPA numbers for the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat are 13 mpg city/22 mpg highway/16 mpg combined, although the standard 2015 Dodge Charger, with a 3.6-liter, 300-hp V6, manages a strong 31 mpg on the highway.

Be that as it may, the Hellcat does live up to its family-friendly reputation by combining its standout performance with comfort features like:

  • Heated and ventilated front seats, along with a full-size second row that delivers all the room one expects from a full-size sedan
  • Automatic dual-zone climate control with humidity sensor, air filter and rear-seat ducts
  • Alcantra, Nappa and ultra-lux Laguna leather cabin environments
  • Uconnect infotainment/connectivity with an 8.4-in. screen and 3D navigation
  • Harmon Kardon audio highlighted by 19 speakers and 900 watts of power
  • A leather multi-function steering wheel with 360-degree heating
  • Driver-assistance measures including a rearview camera, rear cross-path detection, blind-spot monitoring and the ParkSense rear park assist technology

Added Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge and SRT Brands: “We’re proud that in its auto show debut, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is carrying on the buzz that began earlier this year when our Challenger SRT Hellcat surprised the muscle car world.”

Production of the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is scheduled to start in the first quarter of the next year.
