The SRT team recently stepped out to handle its first-ever vehicle reveal as a stand-alone brand, and naturally chose an enthusiast event for the occasion; it was the 8th Annual Spring Festival of the LXs, where the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 392 was introduced. Celebrating the Chrysler Group rear-wheel-drive performance vehicles that first launched on the company’s “LX” platform—including the Dodge Charger, Challenger and Magnum, as well as the Chrysler 300—the event is the largest of its kind in the world and just wrapped up in Irvine, Calif.

As for the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 that made its premiere there, it was wrapped in an exclusive “392 Appearance Package” that will be offered on a limited number of units over the next two years.

“The Spring Festival is the perfect location to debut our new 392 Appearance Package for the Dodge Charger SRT8 to some of our most dedicated and creative performance enthusiasts on the planet,” said Ralph Gilles, president and CEO of the SRT brand at the event. “With its numerous new exterior appointments beyond our exclusive Black Vapor Chrome wheels, not only will this new 392 Appearance Package set the Charger SRT8 apart even further, it also brings another level of exclusivity to our lineup as only 392 cars will receive this special treatment during the 2013 and 2014 model years.”

The car also introduces some new advantages that will be offered on all 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 models. First, engineers developed a new three-mode adaptive-damping suspension, tuned specifically for the Charger SRT8 and now featuring Auto, Sport and Track modes. In addition, a standard launch-control system has been deployed to optimize aggressive starts.

2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 392: April Cool

Drivers can begin ordering the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 with the 392 Appearance Package beginning in April, then enjoy what the brand calls “a modern interpretation of the classic muscle-car styling cues of the Charger SRT8” that “adds an extra dose of menacing appearance for the iconic four-door fastback coupe.”

The new appearance upgrade starts with a choice of five fancy body colors: Bright White Clear Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Plum Crazy Pearl Coat, HEMI Orange Pearl Coat, and TorRed Clear Coat. Regardless of shade, the roof, side mirrors, rear spoiler and center section of the hood are all coated in Pitch Black to create a custom two-tone look. Other highlights of the package include:

  • Exclusive gloss-black “392 HEMI” badges, with a charcoal-grey metallic insert, for the car’s fenders
  • 20-inch Black Vapor Chrome wheels, featuring a split five-spoke design
  • A serialized dash plaque that shows off each vehicle’s individual build number

Further building on the “392” theme, there’s even a stylish new cover for the 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8 for which the car is named. As a reminder, that 6.4-liter engine delivers 470 hp, 470 lb.-ft. of torque, a top speed of 175 mph, and the ability to sprint from 0-60 in fewer than five seconds. On the other hand, thanks to Fuel Saver Technology, the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 is able to claim EPA ratings of up to 23 mpg on the highway.

The MSRP of the 392 Appearance Package is $2,495, which comes on top of the $46,250 price of admission to the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8.
