2013 Dodge Charger Prepares for Alien Invasion
Four-door Muscle Car to Play Starring Role in SyFy’s ‘Defiance’
The aliens have landed.
St. Louis is in ruins.
“In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape,” so the story goes, “the richly diverse, newly formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully”—and the 2013 Dodge Charger is going to help.
That’s the basic plotline for “Defiance,” a new show that recently launched on cable’s SyFy channel and will feature the 2013 Dodge Charger in a key role. In fact, two Chargers will become “main characters” on the program in May according to the brand, serving as the ride of choice for “Nolan,” who is trying to uphold the law in the town of Defiance in the year 2046.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled by Dodge’s partnership with 'Defiance,' Syfy’s biggest, boldest and most ambitious project in our 20 year history,” said Chris Czarkowski, Syfy’s vice president of Ad Sales. “As a forward-thinking brand, Dodge was able to leverage the innovative opportunities with this groundbreaking experience to completely and organically engage our valuable consumers with their brand.”
Now, all hyperbole aside, the new show will offer a unique approach to entertainment, since “Defiance” also has launched as a new title for online gamers from Trion Worlds. Both the program and the game—though set in different locations—will run in concert to “create a dynamic interactive experience in which the show impacts the game, and the game influences the show.”
And as an added bonus, the Defiance game will feature the 2013 Dodge Challenger.
“Dodge has a long history of innovation, and this new partnership with SyFy is the latest example, as it represents the first-ever merging of TV and online gaming,” said Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge. “While ‘Defiance’ is set in the year 2046, the featured Dodge Charger stays true to its DNA. It has timeless performance and technological capabilities needed to survive in a futuristic world, while the Challenger video game integration allows enthusiasts to interact with the iconic muscle car in ways they might not have imagined possible.”
