2014 Dodge Challenger Debuts Super Sport Packages
Enhancements Boost Looks, Performance in V6 Models
The muscle-car with the fastest-growing sales rate in the segment should be moving even faster for the new model year, as the 305-hp 2014 Dodge Challenger V6 will be offered with two fresh upgrade packages that combine enhanced performance and more aggressive style. Designed to provide a complement to the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T that is the most affordable V8 muscle car in the country, the Super Sport packages will be available for the starting point to the 2014 Dodge Challenger roster, the Challenger SXT, and include:
- Wheel-and-tire upgades that wrap P245/45R20 all-season performance tires around 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels
- A more athletic 3.07 rear-axle ratio
- Revised transmission functionality, courtesy of a five-speed "Auto Stick" automatic transmission with die-cast paddle shifters
- Performance-tuned steering, brakes and suspension systems
- A body-color rear spoiler
In addition, the 2014 Dodge Challenger Super Sport can be further accessorized with the brand's "Sinister" blackout style treatment.
It's also worth noting that, even without the Super Sport packages, the Challenger SXT provides two other content improvements for 2014: a power sunroof and the Chrysler Group's Uconnect 430 media/connectivity system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen.
The party line from the brand as regards the 2014 Dodge Challenger: "With record sales last year, including the best sales months since the reintroduction of the Challenger in 2008, the Dodge brand’s performance icon continues to deliver exactly what muscle car enthusiasts want—a powerful and efficient engine lineup, iconic muscle-car design with numerous personalization packages and now the availability of the performance suspension and brake systems across all models—all executed with quality and precision."
Now, the Super Sport packages are just part of the picture with the 2014 Dodge Challenger, which also will premiere new Redline models when it goes on sale this fall, but rather than challenge readers' attention spans here, we'll cover those tomorrow.
