Pros: SMOOTH RUNNING ENGINE
Cons: WIND NOISE
Advice: BUY IF YOU NEED JUST AN OK MINIVANPOWER IS QUITE GOOD, RIDE IS OK ON SMOOTH ROADS, BUT NOT SO GOOD ON BUMPY ROADS. WIND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IS AWFUL-MAINLY AROUND THE SLIDING DOORS. SLIDING DOORS LEAK WHEN USING A HIGH PRESSURE CAR WASH. DEALER SAID MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THIS, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT--YEAH RIGHT!! ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD VAN FOR THE PRICE.
Pros: dual doors
Cons: Trade in resale value, quality of vehicle itself.
Advice: Look at FORD, HONDA, or TOYOTA, DO NOT BUY A DODGE!We have had this vehicle for almost exactly one year, with being driven only 19k miles, we are now having some sort of transmission problems. We are not happy with that. Van has never been 'abused' or 'neglected'. Driven smooth, and easy. Dodge also has the lowest Trade-In/resale value on the market today. I will not buy another Dodge!! We compared this dodge to the toyota and honda vans, and we picked this van because of the price compared to the other two, you know the old saying......You get what you pay for!!
Pros: - sliding doors on both sides and flexible rear seating arangments
Cons: - lack of engine power and road noise
Advice: get the 6 cyl and undercoatingWe purchaced our Caravan in August. Overall we love it. It has been a very good vehicle so far. We got ours with the 4 cyl. engine and it seems to be a little under powered. I had hoped that the 4 cyl. would get better gas milage. We get between 19 - 21 miles/gallon. To anyone thinking of getting a Caravan I suggest getting the 6 cyl. engine, for the difference you get in gas milage you get more power for when you may need it. Also get the body undercoating to cut down on road noise. Other than the two things I mentioned it is a wonderful vehicle.
Pros: comfort of seats
Cons: transmission problems
Advice: ask where the parts are made. I found out Dodge no longer makes all its part leaving more problems mechanicallyWell, when I test drove it, it seemed like it was perfect. It drove smoothly and had lots of lift for a caravan. The upgrades were incredible and the color was patriot blue-perfect. However, I am thankful I bought the warranty on it because I have had two major problems with it-one being transmission. I feel it is way too early for the vehicle to be giving me problems since I barely have 14,000 miles on it since I bought it back in November of 2002. email@example.com
Pros: comfortable seats
Cons: removing the heavy seats
Advice: find an honest mechanicI loved my 1999 caravan sport, we changed the oil regularly, took care of it, I put 95,000 miles on it in the 4 years that I had it, the only trouble was a less than 10.00 part, a transmission sensor. Yes a sensor not the transmission. and the serpentine belt. I did not have the extended warranty, Didn't need it. I just traded it in on a 2005 stow-n-go!
Cons: DVD Player did not come with headphones - another hidden thing you think is standard.
Advice: If you want to steer in an emergency, make sure you order your van with ABS. I was told that dealers DO NOT order the regular length SXTs with ABS to keep the price down.I just purchased a 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT two days ago. I had no idea it did not have anti-lock breaks until I read through my user's manual. It never entered my mind that a 2005 van would not come standard with ABS. Unfortunately I did not happen to catch this on the window sticker. Lets hope it has a radiator, I didn't see that listed on the window sticker. This is a STUPID decision Dodge has made. Although ABS does not make a vehicle stop faster, it does allow for the driver to steer! I would prefer to pick what I'm about to crash into vs. proceeding in an out of control skid into or off of something dreadful.
Cons: No cloth seats for the fully loaded model
Advice: BUY IT :)NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN, NOT THE 2004! I looooove my 2005 Grand Caravan. I bought the SXT, fully loaded. After a day in the van and some time reading the instructions, I found all the systems easy to use and logically sorted out. But I live in Phoenix, AZ - so the seat warmers do me no good. When will they invent seat COOLERS? :)
