2010 GMC Terrain - SLT-2 AWD
Pros: vehicle exterior
Cons: The engine choices should provide greater accerleration and does not provide the universal remote for garage openers
Advice: I think GM got this vehicle right. Good choice to evaluate for a compact SUVThe test drive proved that the four cyclinder is up to the task and the 6 cyclinder option does not provide a $1500 upgrade in acceleration. The seating was comfortable and cabin noise was very low. The external appearance is agressive and the vehicle provides a number of standard features. The interior space for passengers is very roomy for this class of vehicle.
2010 Chevrolet Equinox - LS FWD
Pros: being able to check gas mileage and tire pressure whenever i want to
Cons: I don't like the silver button on the dashboard compartment
Advice: It is easy to park and very stabile when driving in the rain.I test drove this car and liked it and purchased it. It is gradually increasing in gas mileage as i get use to driving it. The ride is a little harder then i am use to since this is the first SUV i have ever owned. It is great if you have problems getting out of the lower sedans and helps someone who has knee problems tremendously.
2009 Chevrolet Traverse - LS FWD
Pros: The ride and the looks
Cons: view in back
Advice: choose a dealer who does not try to pressure you to add all of their warranties. We are extremely pleased with this vehicle. Trading in an older Dodge Caravan, we were pleasantly surprised at the many improvements and features. The one complaint we have is the vision for backing up. We will probably buy the rear view camera, which will run about $1000.
2010 Chevrolet Equinox - LTZ FWD
Pros: XM Radio
Cons: Storage area behind back seat.
Advice: If you are looking for a comfortable high tech vehicle with plenty of leg room front and back, this is the car for you.Chevrolet has done a masterful job of providing the driver with a cabin that is comfortable and quiet. I hate to leave my car when listening to the XM radio and hearing music the way it was supposed to be heard. You're like in your own world where you can forget about the business around you. It's amazing that GM could put so many high tech features in a car of this price. I took it for a 400 mile trip as soon as I got it and completely enjoyed every mile. My first tank of gas gave me only 25MPG so I hope I can increase those numbers on my next trip. The only negative I can point out is that the width of the storage space behind the back seat is much smaller than other SUV's I've owned.
2009 Toyota Venza - V6 AWD
Cons: poor interior quality look
Advice: Look at a Honda Crosstour first!Cheap plastic look inside and hearing about Toyota's bad reliability issues as of late, I wish I would of just waited for the new Honda Crosstour!
2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser - LX
Pros: Styling that's different, comfortable seats, even in the base version, interior room and color
Cons: relatively poor gas mileage
Advice: Weight the trade offs of gas mileage, price, and interior room between the vehicles you are looking at.I have the 2009 base LX model with automatic transmission. Easy to get in and out of. Seating is comfortable with good lower back support. Ride is firm but not harsh, handling is good, steering feel is excellent. Car is very quiet. Standard radio is good and gets good reception and has good sound. If you are familiar with the PT at all you know it has lots of room inside. That includes teh drivers and passengers seats - they are very roomy. The rear seats are also decent. One thing I like about the car is that it doesn't look like every other small car on the road. Another nice thing is that you can get a light color interior, not just the dark charcol that seems to be all that's availble in most cars. In fact, even though the PT is a fairly small vehicle it does not look small. The transmission shifts smoothly. The base engine is just adequate to propel the car. You have to be willing to let it rev up if you want to accelerate very fast. Figure 0 - 60 in about 10 seconds with the automatic. By todays standards thats not very quick but there was a time when that would have been considered better then average. In any case, it's enough power for any normal driving. The major issue with the PT is that the gas mileage by today's standards is about 4 mpg less then you'd expect for this engine size.
2008 Lexus RX 350 - FWD
Cons: Size of interior
Advice: Not for tall peopleCar rides smooth, handles curves great. You would not know that you were riding in an suv.
