Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche’s executive vice president of research and development, admitted speed junkie, and Autobahn test pilot, says that Cayennes “are not sports cars, but they are sporty…verrrrryyyyy sporty.” With regard to the new 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Durheimer claims it is “a supercar that seats five.” And then, perhaps with a bit of Tom Cruise moxie in his tone, Durheimer asserted: “In the world of SUVs, there is no substitute for the Porsche Cayenne.”
