A 5.2-liter V10 that works in concert with Quattro all-wheel-drive thrusts the 2007 Audi S8 to 60 mph in only 4.9 seconds. A six-speed Tiptronic transmission, borrowed from the A8 and tweaked for application in the S8, delivers power to all four wheels, with 40 percent of the juice going to the front wheels and 60 percent to the rear, allowing for a touch of tail bias that driving enthusiasts prefer. An adaptive air suspension, tuned especially for the S8, controls the ride, and 20-inch cast aluminum wheels fit with 265/35 rubber are stuffed into the wheel wells. Cornering has also been improved over the A8 thanks to a tighter steering ratio, while large ventilated discs are standard stopping equipment. Available as an option are ceramic brakes, which are heralded for their fade resistance and durability.
