Fun with NISMO’d Nissans
S-tune Sentra SE-R Spec V

S-tune Sentra SE-R Spec V While the graphics, floor mats, and license plate frame were plenty fancy, it was the NISMO S-tune suspension treatment that tightened things up a bit in the corners, and the tire/wheel combo did a nice job of hugging the track.

As a compact car with 175 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque, the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V that you can buy off the showroom floor is impressive, especially considering a starting price of around $18,000.

That’s great for street drivers satisfied with stock, but for those who yearn for a bit more on the daily commute, there’s the NISMO S-tune line of tricks. For our driving pleasure, Nissan supplied a Sentra SE-R Spec V with about $3,400 worth of S-tune parts. Installation costs are not included here:

  • Stainless steel cat-back exhaust system that adds four horsepower ($700)
  • 23-mm front stabilizer bar ($225)
  • Lowering shock and spring kit ($1,000)
  • Silver, five-spoke 17-inch by 7.5-inch alloy wheels (price of BF Goodrich KD 215/45R17 tires not included – $285/each)
  • Upgraded shift knob ($65-140)
  • NISMO floor mats, set of four ($79)
  • NISMO license plate frame ($32)
  • NISMO graphics ($175)
While the graphics, floor mats, and license plate frame were plenty fancy, it was the NISMO S-tune suspension treatment that tightened things up a bit in the corners, and the tire/wheel combo did a nice job of hugging the track. The added horsepower went unnoticed, but the sound out of that cat-back exhaust echoing off the pit road walls was bittersweet – beautiful to listen to, but at $700, hard to justify. On the other hand, at just over $1,200, the tally for the effective suspension bits seems like a good deal, especially given the factory warranty. And, as with most any car, a set of nice rims and sticky rubber add to aesthetics and performance.
