All the supply-and-demand hubbub related to petroleum supply clearly has some potential large SUV buyers considering more efficient alternatives, but the key word is “some.” This robust segment may be losing a bit of its steam, but there are still plenty of buyers to keep it afloat – buyers GM is intent on lassoing with thoroughly redesigned trucks like the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade EXT. Each represents some of the best quality currently offered by a domestic manufacturer, a point bolstered by claims of 20-mpg real-world economy. These mammoth haulers are huge cash cows for automakers, so its imperative that the 2007 Ford Expedition hits a home run by offering utility, style, amenities, and performance equal to or better than its much-improved competitors. Ford is a company in crisis and every model, including the reinvigorated Expedition, must be capable of greater sales or, at the very least, maintaining market share.
