Honda CR-V - Best New Small SUV: It’s as if Honda has this stuff written down somewhere, such is the execution of the new CR-V. Sure, styling is subjective – and this rig had its detractors. Otherwise, the CR-V is simply more capable than the competition. Powerful enough to keep drivers awake, with a stiff ride that reminds one that yes, there is a road down there, the CR-V is nonetheless comfortable -- with firm seats and an upright seating position. Efficiency is the watchword here, as in dollars you’ll likely save at the pump. Our lead-footed staff came up with a real-world MPG in the 20s – impressive, considering that we normally send SUVs whimpering home in the teens.
