LA Auto Show Fuel Cell Cars – Gallery: When it comes to alternative mobility, automakers have generally been long on promises but short on results. And you can’t really blame ‘em. After all, finding new ways to power cars comes in second to the bottom line – otherwise known as the bottom line. Today, that’s changing. At the recently concluded LA Auto Show, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles took center stage, with four cars prominently displayed, clucked over and praised: the BMW Hydrogen 7, the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell, the Ford Fuel Cell Explorer and the Honda FCX. Ironically, the rate of innovation echoes the beginning of the automotive age, when gasoline, diesel, and steam fought for power prominence in an emerging industry that is, yet again, searching for new ways to move on down the road.
