Milford, MI – At this rate, Cadillac is going to get a mean reputation, one reserved for the cars that go fastest and make real drivers smile.

Consider the CTS, a true sport-luxury sedan, the SRX, a downright fun-to-drive luxury SUV, and the XLR, an exhilarating roadster. Now Cadillac has reinvigorated one of the most senior members of its lineup –– the Seville. Renamed the STS and forsaking front-wheel drive for rear-wheel drive, the new 2005 Cadillac STS rides on the same platform that underpins the CTS sedan and SRX sport utility.

The new 2005 Cadillac STS also follows the styling trend at GM’s luxury division, with its angular bodywork and jeweled vertical lights, that are particularly reminiscent of the slightly smaller CTS. Both the XLR droptop and SRX SUV also share key design cues with the STS, although some of the big sedan’s lines have been softened for the luxury market. Clearly, however, the STS is another step in redefining the quickly evolving Cadillac brand.

Cadillac offers two engines in this luxury sedan, both sophisticated units equipped with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that help deliver smooth, efficient performance. A 24-valve V6 engine displacing 3.6 liters comes standard in the base car, making an impressive 255 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque, 90 percent of which is available between 1,600 to 5,800 rpm.
