hmmmm.......i would say the backseat but i'm never gonna be back there.....seriously i cant think of nothing ......a manual transmission would have been nice..but thats coming for 2002 |
Advice to buyer: |
get the 16'' all season tires if you drive in any inclement weather...the 17'' low profiles are horrendous on any non-dry surface |
Detailed review: |
I think i test drove every 4 dr. sports sedan on the market between $30k - $42k and this was definetly the most exilirating. I liked the audi a6 for pure acceleration and the bmw for the standard manual transmission but for overall acceleration, handling , and looks I had to go with the IS300. I was estatic with my decision when i drove it off the lot $4k under the sticker price putting it thousands under the other test drives( during lexus's yearly sale event). As for the test drive, the car performed very well. It accelerates briskly and quietly...although cornering and handling is its best attribute. Braking is superb. The formula one manual shifting on the steering wheel is a nice compromise too a manual transmission when you want to really put the car to the test. Seats in the front are very comfortable, climate control works well, sound system is great. The fit and finish of the entire car is impressive ( a lexus trademark). On the downside, if you choose the 17' low profile potenza's dont expect to go anywhere unless the pavement is dry. Lexus offers a 16' all-season tire you can opt for at no cost. This car is rear-wheel drive and does have traction control standard and diff. lock as an option ( and heated seats), i dont think it is an all seasons car ( at least not in the midwest). In closing....there are lots of cars to choose from in this segment...they all have their attributes and selling points but overall i would definetly go with IS300....it is a blast and looks great at a respectable price. |
