Detailed review: |
Having owned previous Volvo's, I looked forward to the purchase of the S-80. I had really enjoyed the 164 and the 760-turbo's and looked forward to the advances that Volvo had made. Boy, was I disappointed overall. I liked the design, the safety aspects and I must say that the seating and sound system were really impressive. On the other hand, I thought that a vehicle of this caliber should have had at least a 225 HP engine standard, less than 200 HP is simply not acceptable in a $40,000 car. Also, plenty of mechanical woes from squeaking windows to a suspension recall problem to failed electrical systems like the power door locks cause me to rethink Volvo since Ford acquired them. Beware of the blind spots in this car, they are a problem. Beware of the short warranty except for the power train. I think that there are better choices for a lot less money. |
