Favorite feature: |
Tons of room, very versatile. |
Least favorite feature: |
Stupid adjustable gas pedal. It gives too little back pressure so when you hit bumps the pedal moves. |
Advice to buyer: |
Don't buy black. Cheap Chevy black is hard to keep nice. Also on Z71 the wheel well extenders are cheap black plastic instead of being painted like Z71's in other colors. |
Detailed review: |
I purchased a four-wheel drive Tahoe with the Z-71 offroad package.
The package is nice in that it gives the vehicle a slightly taller stance, a more off-road oriented suspension, and a more robust roof rack.
The ride is very nice for a big SUV. Cornering, while not flat, is smooth and controlable. Exceleration is okay considering the weight. However, I had an '01 Tahoe and I swear it was just a bit quicker than this '03. One annoyance is the adjustable pedals they put in for short people give not back pressure. So if you hit a bump, the pedal may move up or down momentarily decreasing your ability to control the engine speed..
Breaking, for this class, is excellent. It's controllable and progressive. Anti-lock braking works very well in this vehicle. Also want to note, on my previous ('01) Tahoe, I had almost 60,000 miles on it when I traded it in and still had not had to change the brakes.
Overall a competent vehicle with good build quality. |
