Detailed review: |
Pros: More power and more room than previous years
Cons: Interior is cheap and bare compared to 2002-2005 models; seats not comfortable; fewer features
The on road performance and handling of this car was good. However, compared to previous years, the 2006 is dramatically different and a dud. They may sell these cars, but not to present owners who were spoiled by the classy and well trimmed 2002 to 2005 Sonatas. The 2006 interior is cheap and bare compared to previous years with minimal trim. The interior looks like one cheap plastic mold, and the door handles like a cheap piece a plastic compared to shiny chrome in previous models. The window and door lock controls are stupidly designed, slanting downward away from the driver. The clock and radio LCD looks cheap and dumpy. The rear console no longer has a storage compartment and is now just an arm rest. Whether interior or exterior, they took all the posh, class and comfort out of the 2006 Sonata. The interior went from a classy jag look to a boring boxy redesign. The car does have more power and interior room, but too much of a classsy car and comfort was thrown out in the process.
