Advice to buyer: |
DO NOT BUY A 2003- Other owners- at 50,000 miles you are going to have a headache |
Detailed review: |
I bought a 2003 Focus, Used- I noticed that the engine would 'hiccup' going about 50 miles per hour and above, once in a while. Took it back to the dealer. Did not seem to be a big problem. We figured the car was '' breaking itself in' since the miles were so low. Brakes were a real suprise. 500.00 is what I had to pay beause the rotors are so thin, you cannot turn them. If you do turn them, you have to replace brakes and rotors. 50,000 miles, part of the transmission went, 350.00 to replace. That was what the 'hiccup was about'. The door handles stoped working on ALL doors. All 4 wheel bearings were bad. Key stuck in the ignition ALL the time. Needed a new fuel filter at 65,000 miles. To replace the fuel filter, you need to take off the gas tank, the fuel filter is located in the gas tank. That was fun. The CD player would eat CDs. The Driver side window would not go up. I found out all of these issues were a recall but not for 2003, only for 2000-2002. Ford admitted that these were all recall issues but not enough people complained about the problems to issue the recall. The trade in value of these cars is VERY VERY LOW.Most dealers do not want them. They know what is wrong with them and will tell you they are not worth a dime. |
