Changes to the 2005 Cadillac DeVille are minimal this year. Generation IV digital OnStar comes aboard, as well as two new exterior colors: Light Cashmere and Green Silk. Rear door lock switches, the spare tire trunk trim handle, and the steering column lock feature depart. A new Premium package bundles a six-disc CD changer with a power sunroof and chrome 16-inch wheels, and for those easily suckered Cadillac offers a "Limited Edition" package on the DeVille.

Though not as traditionally American as the stodgy Lincoln Town Car, the 2005 Cadillac DeVille embodies the luxury design philosophies of times gone by: Big interior, big engine, mushy suspension and lots of gadgets are available on the various DeVille models. Exterior ornamentation is surprisingly restrained, and the sporty DTS makes a bid for mass appeal, but there is nothing truly compelling here except for big rebates and low-interest financing.
