Pros: Unique looks
Cons: Base engine, which is not bad but also not impressive
Advice: Test drive all three enginesIt was my senior year in high school, and I was looking for a new car, to get me to school on a daily basis and to enjoy on weekends. I was also planning to have the car while in college. At that time I had a 2003 Kia Spectra, it was a good car, but I just wanted something more distinctive. I parked it im my school parking lot, but it got lost amongst the other cars. I ended up buying the PT Cruiser mainly on its looks, I fell in love with the car and knew that there were no other cars on the road that looked like it. The first day that I drove to school, people gathered around it and were just amazed by it. Many commented on how 'cool it looked', others where like 'it's so small, but yet it has a lot of space.' Since that day I knew I had to keep it. Second was the interior space, it had room for three of my friends and myself along with our stuff. I realized how handy the PT Cruiser's flexibility was during my first year in college. I brought everything I needed in my car, that's including my refrigerator, t.v, computer and other stuff. Its a great car. I get good gas milage from it. Although I have the base engine, I kind of wish I would of opted for the turbo engine. It's a great car to get around town with. The interior is very nicely done, even for the base model. I would really recommend to the people who are looking at this car, to test drive all three of the engine choices, seeing that each one fullfills different peoples needs. Today, I still get a lot of stares, compliments and thumbs up from random people while driving or in parking lots. All in all its a great car, I have not had any types of problems with it, and it is still attracting a lot of attention with the newly added flames. This car is for sure a keeper.
Pros: apearance , accessories, sunroof, smooth ride
Cons: couldnt get the turbo in this paint scheme.
Advice: try the turbo.bought the car for my wife, she loves it, lots of room front and back, good cargo area, great sound system , handles absolutely great , good power, shifts smooth, rides smooth, love the options we got with it, sunroof, two tone paint, lots of chrome, gets alotta looks!!!only thing we wished for was the turbo , but we grew fond of the base 4 cylinder.
Pros: Performance, passenger and cargo space.
Cons: Turning radius
Advice: Seriously consider the turboWe have a 2003 PT Cruiser GT with a 215 HP 2.4 liter Turbocharged engine. And we love it! Lots of leg room, easy to get in/out of, good driving vantage point, and plenty of room for cargo. The many seat/cargo configurations work well. You can fit a load of 8 foot long 2X12s in it and still close the hatch. Although it's 8 inches shorter than a Nissan Sentra (169 vs 177 inches), 'Its 121.5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Lincoln Town Car.' http://tinyurl.com/3fcad 'In size, it compared to the Honda CR-V, with a similar wheelbase and only 2 cubic feet less cargo volume--despite standing some 2 inches lower and measuring nearly 9 inches shorter overall.' http://tinyurl.com/yw4fy Yet it's 0-60 Acceleration of 7.2 seconds is better than a 1967 Mustang with a V8 engine. (sources: http://tinyurl.com/28als and http://tinyurl.com/3gbng) Passing on a country road is a joy because it accelerates smoothly from 50-to-70-mph in just 4.7 seconds. Although the turning radius is large, it parks easily because it is short and the front bumper is curved.
Pros: Ease of access into the car and retro shape.
Cons: The unavailability of a manuel transmisson off the lot.
Advice: It is a good car, so it is all about the deal.I found the car to handle very well. The 150hp engine was good, bringing the car to highway speeds easily even with the automatic transmission. The ride is on the harder side which I prefere.
Pros: The COLOR and the overall LOOK !!!
Cons: The ivory colored stick shift knob.
Advice: Make sure that a 4-banger is enough power for your driving needs.Wifey says the Dodge dakota sport is not safe enough for our family; so I agreed to get a 'family' vehcle. My brother in law has a 2002 PT Cruiser and after convincing my wife that it was not a hot rod or a 'gangster'car throwback; I ended up purchasing a 2004 electic blue PT.I am absolutely stoked on the car, the color, the 5 speed stick, and safety features; not to mention the deal I got on it!!! This vehicle is an absolute head turner and in my opinion,a 'CLASSIC'!!!!!!!!
Cons: seats are a little firm for long drives
Advice: good purchase, and seem to hold their valuesuperior acceleration for a four cylinder. smooth ,quiet ride, even at turnpike speeds.
