Pros: road stability, supremely responsive handling, fabulously comfortable interior
Cons: gas mileage is pretty average for a 6 cylinder car of this class...about 15 mpg in the city
Advice: don't overlook this gem because it's an american car.Recently, our Mercedes E class car was involved in a wreck. While it's being repaired, we were given a Pacifica Touring. Boy was this car a surprise. It's elegant and classy, with nice lines and an extremely comfortable interior. I also have a Lexus RX 300 and this car equals that in every respect. The handling is terrific and the road stability seems exceptional. I live in San Francisco and this car is agile in tight, aggressive traffic, offers terrific control on the hills, and is easy to parallel park in very tight spaces (often with only a few inches to spare). As an average sized woman of 5'4', I feel 'on top' of the road. I feel as though I have a good sense of the traffic around me in all directions (very important in city driving). This is in direct contrast to the Mercedes, which has me feeling like I'm not quite seeing everything around me. (No,I was not driving when it was wrecked!) I haven't taken this on the highway yet but if it feels so luxurious on pot-hole ridden city streets, it must be like riding on air on the freeway. I am seriously considering selling my Mercedes to buy one of these.
Cons: gas mileage
Advice: Be wary.I bought a used (20k miles on it) 2005 Pacifica Touring AWD in October 2005. I have had it in the shop 5 or 6 times. They replaced the wheel speed antilock brake sensor and the lower control arm (both sides). At first I heard a weird noise, took it to dealer; they replaced the left front axle and transfer case. The next thing was when the car was showing 1/2 full tank of gas, all of sudden the needle would go to empty. The dealer replaced the entire fuel pump level assembly. Hopefully, this will be the end of the problems.
Pros: I liked the way if drove
Cons: The contiuning belt/engine problems
Advice: Do not buy it!I purchased this car new and just trading it this week. I owned my Pacifica for about 1-1/2 years and had it to take it to the shop over 6 times. Each time was for the same reoccurring problem. The serpentine belt would always squeak and two Chrysler dealerships tried and couldn't resolve the issue. I gave up on the car and traded it for a Toyota Sienna jus this week. I would not recommend this car since both dealerships have indicated that this is a common problem with this car!
Pros: 3rd row seat, cloth seats, woodgrain accents, analog clock
Cons: trunk space (not too big), and fuel economy (about 18 mpg is kinda low...)
Advice: order the curtain airbags. (extra safety)We have a 2005 touring pacifica and are very, very, happy with it. We have 4 kids, all of which are comfortable in all the seats. The woodgrain accents and analog clock are soo classy. The ride is soo comfortable and it handles like a car. The cloth seats are like a couch! We also feel very safe due to the 5 star government ratings. Will buy again! GO OUT AND TEST DRIVE ONE!!!
Pros: The overall safety of the vehicle
Cons: The doors don't open wide enough
Advice: It will hold up well in a collisionMy Pacifica was struck from behind while stopped at a stoplight, by a Honda Odyssey minivan that was moving at about 40 mph. The Honda looked like it had hit a brick wall, and I was able to drive my car home. The rear bumper took the impact remarkably well. I was also able to control the car, and did not hit the car directly in front of me. My husband and I received minor injuries, but I think it would have been much worse if we had not been in my Pacifica. I had the car towed from my home to the auto body shop, and have no idea how much it will cost to repair. At least my insurance company won't be paying for it.
Pros: Navigation and DVD player.
Cons: Navigation don't dim at night/ black-out backround like on RX330
Advice: Buy it!!! You'll thank me later!!!I had my doubts with chrysler's reputation. Rental company gave me FWD touring w/ few options on it. From that day on I knew what car to get. Head on to the nearest dealer and bought me a AWD touring with all the options chrysler can offer. This car is PERFECT!!!
Pros: the third row seat
Cons: 3-row side air bags should be standard
Advice: pay the extra for the leather seatsMy husband and I recently purchased this 2006 Chrysler Pacifica Touring edition and are beyond thrilled with our decision! This vehicle has everything we were looking for...third row seats, aesthetically pleasing exterior and a very luxe interior. Chrysler learned a great deal from Mercedes with this SUV...it has the feel of a luxury vehicle without the over-the-top price tag. We opted for the leather seating with the comfort package that included heated seats--ahhhhh. I was also insistent that the supplemental 3-row side curtain airbags be included. The vehicle has a 5 star safety rating all around, but I like the security of having that extra level of safety for my family.
