The Chrysler brand is helping to write a new chapter in the story of Motown Records and its founder, Berry Gordy, with a recently launched ad campaign featuring both the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition and Gordy himself. The marketing effort kicked off with a 60-second spot that features the latter riding in the former through the streets of Detroit, and focuses on the kaleidoscopic journey that took Gordy from his roots in the Motor City to the opening of his “Motown: The Muscial” show that will debut on Broadway in the spring of 2013.

Coincidentally, that’s when the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition is scheduled to reach dealerships, following its public reveal in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Mixing retro elegance and cutting-edge technologies, the car will wear a broad range of bright work that includes chrome front and rear fascia accents, mirror caps, door handles, and window surrounds, as well as a seven-bladed bright-chrome grille from Mopar. Naturally, the vehicle’s 20-inch aluminum wheels are plenty shiny, too, and set off by a heritage-style, 12-spoke design. Four exterior colors will be offered: Bright White, Gloss Black, Deep Cherry Red and, making its premiere, Jazz Blue.

The luxurious cabin of the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition is done in premium shades of black, with Piano Black and Black Olive Ash accents complemented by satin-silver trim, while exclusive Pearl White Nappa leather seating creates a sophisticated, high-contrast driving environment. As you might expect in a vehicle that pays homage to one of America’s best-loved musical styles, the cockpit of the 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition gets a standard Beats audio system preloaded with 100 classic Motown tracks.

Priced from $32,995, the Motown Edition will be motivated by a 292-hp Pentastar V6 engine, mated to an advanced eight-speed automatic transmission, and capable of a best-in-class 31 mpg highway.

“More than just a brand partnership, our collaboration with Motown Records elevates our passion to express our Detroit roots further and inspired a new limited-edition 300 sedan that embodies the soul and originality of our city,” said Saad Chehab, president and CEO of the Chrysler brand.
