    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2 4dr

    Pros: Overall driving satisfaction

    Cons: The red speedometer needle.

Advice: Too late, they don't make them any more.

I have been delighted with my 4 cylinder 4 door 4X4 Tracker. It fits me to a tee. My only gripe seems a bit trivial but I often cannot readily see the dark red speedometer needle against the black background. My average mileage at 27,695 miles is 27.76 mpg overall, including the little four wheel driving I've done, and the less than two thousand miles pulling a trailer. It has needed no adjustments, no parts, except an oxygen sensor. While some might question my rating the 4 cylinder engine as giving 'excellent performance' it satisfies my needs. If I were interested in 0 to 60 performance I would not have have insisted on the four. Just recently I had cause to drive fast. Without reaching top speed I drove 90 mph and I doubt whether I would have driven faster under the prevailing conditions if I had had a Maserati.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2 4dr

    Pros: In expensive to maintain.

    Cons: Rear door no hatch.

Advice: Go for it. Very reliable. Easy to maintain.

Our 2003 Tracker is a base 4 Wheel Drive 5 speed w/ a 4 cyl eng. We purchased the car new in 11/03 and we now have 62,000 miles. Average 22 mpg in the city and 25+ on the highway. This is a great car to run to and from work and to run around town. We have taken the car on a few trips that covered three to four hundred miles. Not as bad as we thought. It is basic transportation at its best, cheap to run and maintain. We only recently changed the front breaks, and oh yea we have the original tires with plenty of tread. What is not to like.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - LT 4x4 4dr

    Pros: CD Player

    Cons: Lack of power

Advice: Do yourself a favor and get the 6 cylinder engine model.

We bought the 4 cylinder model and I'm not impressed with the engine's power. When using the cruise control, it too frequently downshifts, (and jerks while doing so) even when the vehicle is only going up a small incline. Gas mileage is good and everything else is adequate. There are some nice features in the package, including the stereo and power locks, windows, etc. It's a nice vehicle but could use a little more power.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - LT 4x2 4dr

    Pros: love the gas milage

    Cons: does not brake right

Advice: check everything and ask questions more than once

We bought a new 2003 Tracker and later found out that this $21,000 car did not come with ABS brakes. In the time we have had this Tracker the brakes have locked and caused a skidd on 5 different occassions. In different weather and road conditions. We contacted GM about this and they(GM)tell us it's our falt. We ask about having the ABS brakes add on but it can not be done. So we ask about a buy back and they tell us nothing is wrong with this Tracker. Then we ask for help on a trade-in because of the amount owed verses value, and they laughed.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - ZR2 4x4 4dr

    Pros: The power mode

Cons: 4 wheel drive is hard to engage when the vehicle is moving faster than 25 mph.

Advice: If you want a good small SUV with great handling you cant go wrong with a tracker.

Its very agile and powerful for such a small SUV. Handling is very tight and responsive. The 24 valve 2.5 litre V6 can really roar when you want it to. I love the agressive styling of the whole vehicle and control layout.

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - 4x2 2dr

    Pros: convertible top

Cons: Hot, insufficient AC, lousy ride,

Advice: Are you out of your mind????

We rented this car for vacation. We drove 50 miles out of the way to trade it in for something else. (ANYTHING else!)

    2003 Chevrolet Tracker - Base 4x2 4dr

Pros: It drove like it would be great in town

    Cons: Not enough pep.

Advice: It's seems to be put together as cheaply as possible.

I had trouble fastening the seat belt. The latch sounded cheap, not solid. I did not like the feel of the shift. It felt like metal hitting metal. The overall quality seemed less than other vehicles I have tested. I found the turn signal inconvenient to locate. The steering wheel hides the switch on the dash for cruise control. I also found the wipers/cruise lever inconvenient to operate.
