The all-new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe already has made its impact felt on this year's overall sales race, piling up 86,467 deliveries through the end of November and growing volume by 15.5 percent during that time. So now the Bowtie brand is looking for the same kind of results in the police-vehicle market, and the effort appears to have gotten off to a quick start: The County of Ventura, Calif., recently became one of the first big fleets to commit to the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV), ordering a first batch of 25 units that are expected to go into service before the end of the year.

And when they do, Chevy further reports that Ventura county will transition from its current lineup of Ford and Dodge products to an all-Tahoe team of vehicles.

Said Peter Bednar, County of Ventura Fleet Operations manager: “The safety and ergonomics of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV are the key reasons for the sheriff’s department and our fleet operations team choosing this vehicle to replace their current patrol vehicles."

As a further reason for choosing the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV, Bednar also noted that: "The visibility from the vehicle allows deputies to better spot incidents and react faster.”

From Chevy's side, the brand also points out that the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV is the first in the line to combine a four-wheel-drive system with pursuit capability, with chasing power provided by a new 5.3-liter V8 that delivers double-digit gains in both horsepower and highway fuel economy (as compared to the 2014 model). Additionally, police fleets that don't require all-out pursuit functionality can choose the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Special Service Vehicles (SSV), which puts a sharper focus on four-wheel-drive performance.

Added Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet & Commercial: “The Tahoe PPV and SSV continue to be GM Fleet and Commercial’s most-popular-selling police vehicles. The all-new Tahoe strengthens GM’s police portfolio and commitment to the law enforcement market.”
