2014 Chevrolet Suburban 1500Change Make/Model
2014 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Summary
Changes for the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban:
In its final year before a complete redesign, the 2014 Chevy Suburban adds standard equipment in the form of rear parking assist sensors, a reversing camera, remote engine starting, and power adjustable pedals. Concord Metallic is a new paint color. The new 2015 Suburban goes on sale early in 2014.
Chevrolet sells the full-size, 9-passenger Suburban in LS, LT, and LTZ trim levels. Note that while the 2014 Suburban requires the removal of the third-row seat to maximize cargo room, this outgoing design offers greater interior cargo space than the redesigned 2015 model, in which the second-row and third-row seats fold to expand cargo volume.
As for equipment, the Suburban LT adds leather seats, heated front seats, triple-zone automatic climate control, and a better sound system. When optioned with 4WD, this model can be upgraded with a Z71 Off-Road Package that includes an upgraded suspension, 18-inch aluminum wheels, all-terrain tires, a skid plate, appearance changes, and other upgrades.
The Suburban LTZ includes polished 20-inch aluminum wheels, 12-way power front seats with ventilation, heated rear seats, a power liftgate, navigation, and a premium surround sound audio system.
Engines and Transmissions:
An E85-capable, 5.3-liter V-8 engine is standard for all Suburbans, equipped with an Active Fuel Management system that shuts off half of the engine’s cylinders under low-load driving conditions in order to conserve fuel. The V-8 generates 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, fed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 4-wheel-drive system is optional. Maximum payload measures 1,576 pounds, while the maximum tow rating is 8,100 lbs.
Fuel Economy Ratings:
The 2014 Suburban is rated to get 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, regardless of whether or not it has 4WD.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2014 Suburban an overall crash-test rating of 4 stars. While the Suburban receives 5-star ratings in every single crash assessment, the SUV receives a 3-star rollover resistance rating in both 2WD and 4WD format, resulting in the 4-star overall rating.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not performed crash tests on the Suburban.
In addition to standard Bluetooth connectivity, the Suburban is equipped with OnStar services including Automatic Crash Response, which activates if the airbags deploy to help speed rescuers to the SUV’s exact location. Additionally, OnStar offers Stolen Vehicle Assistance and FamilyLink, the latter an opt-in location sharing service that lets loved ones remotely check in on loved ones. OnStar is free for the first six months, and requires a monthly or annual subscription thereafter.
A touchscreen radio and navigation system is optional for the Suburban LT and standard for the LTZ. The Suburban LTZ also includes Side Blind Zone Alert technology. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system is optional for LT and LTZ models, and includes dual viewing screens, a remote control, wireless headphones, audio/video input jacks, video game jacks, and a video game plug-in.
