Take a small city car like a Chevrolet Spark and drop in an electric powertrain. What do you have? The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV. The Spark EV utilizes an electric motor with 140 horsepower and a mind-blowing 400 pound-feet of torque. 400 pound-feet coming out of a small city car? What is the world coming to? Performance figures are 7.5 seconds to get to 60 MPH and a top speed of 90 MPH. As for range, the Spark EV gets up to 82 miles thanks to a 21.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Recharge times for the Spark EV are:

  • 120V Outlet: Less than 17 Hours
  • 240V Outlet: Less than 7 Hours
  • SAE Combo DC Fast Charge: 80 Percent Charge within 20 Minutes

Other changes for the Spark EV include a revised aerodynamic package which includes a closed off front grille, an active shutter system in the lower air intake, and underbody panels to improve air flow. There is also a new seven-inch LCD display that provides information such as speed, battery range, and trip computer information.

A 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV will set you back $27,495 for the 1LT and $27,820 for the 2LT. Those prices don't include the $7,500 federal tax credit and other incentives offered state by state.

Interested in a Spark EV? Well you have to be living in California or Oregon at this time to get your hands on one.
