    2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Work Truck 4x2 Regular Cab 6.5' Box

    Pros: Color

Cons: 6 cylinder engine is underpowered.

Advice: I have sworn off Chevrolets. 2 New Suburbans and 1 New Silverado in last 5 years - all with serious mechanical problems.

Engine blowing smoke at 5K miles - took to Dealer and was advised that would do more damage to take apart and find out what was wrong - wanted to wait until engine fails. Refuses to fix problem. Tailpipe still full of carbon, although I haven't seen smoke in a while.

    2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LS2 Sport 4x2 Crew Cab

Pros: It's a truck that has the room and comfort of a car

    Cons: gas mileage

Advice: Definately get the 5.3 over the smaller V8, gas mileage/performance is better

Bought this vehicle new, first new vehicle ever owned. We got it when GM was offering great rebates and got it for about $10,000 off the sticker. I love my truck and the four door configuration means we use it as our 'family' vehicle. It seats 6 people comfortably. My daughter said the back seat feels like an 'easy chair' compared to her grandmother's Nissan Titan, which was stiff and hard. I hate the fact that due to my job being 1 hour away, I am having to consider trading it for a small car for the gas mileage.

    2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LT1 4x2 Crew Cab

Pros: Awesome horsepower in the 5.3 litter, yes the Duramax is great but diesel is more than premium

Cons: Location of heater controls behind gear shifter when in drive - didn't get steering wheel radio controls

Advice: Get the iron block engine and get crew cab, so much room inside

Very awesome and powerfull truck. Have driven all other makes of trucks and this is the best so far. I love the look of it, all though I do see why so many critics complain about the lack of build quality. Everybody should stop complaining about all the plastic inside the interior, most cars/trucks have all plastic inside. I think the interior is classic and timeless, not like all these outrageous aluminium accents in countless other makes. The horsepower is like driving an old Camaro with the 5.3, which is 325 cu.i. or 327 cu.i depending on who you talk too. And I highly recommend that if you buy the 5.3, make sure it's the iron block and not the aluminum block. The iron has 20 less horsepower but you can't beat the reliability of iron (snufu Toyota).
