2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - AWD Extended Cab Short Box

Pros: the powerful 6.0 liter motor linked to the all-wheel drive system

Cons: splash gets into the engine compartment

    Advice: Buy it.

Best combination of performance and function. All-wheel drive with a 6 litre V-8 means zip plus traction in rain and snow. The etended cab yields a reasonably useable back seat. The 5-speed automatic transmission is quick and smooth. Acceleration and handling are superb. The 20 inch wheels compromise the ride. I replaced them with 18 inch Torqthrusts which look better and ride much more comfortably. The interior matches the comforts of a Suburban. Overall, a really fun and functional vehicle.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LS 4x2 Extended Cab Short Box

Pros: looks, comfort, quality, performance, overall functionality.

Cons: less than great mileage with any of the engine options...hurry up with the hybrids already!

Advice: Best truck you can buy as far as I can tell.

Test drove one today. Absolutely awesome ride and comfort. I hear complaints in some reviews, but the car I'm trading in is such a junker, this new silverado feels like a magic carpet ride to me. Will probably buy it, would buy the Avalanche instead perhaps if I had a little more money...

Pros: Quiet when on the road

Cons: aluminum cylinder heads - hope they are not bad like Ford

Advice: Get underneath and compare to Ford, Dodge

Nice stiff frame; car-like ride with good handling on highway; great gas mileage (18 in the city - 19 on the freeway; plenty of nice features - as good and comfortable as any car plus it is sturdy - pulls 5,000 LB boat fine - plenty of reserve power with 350 engine and a/t Tailpipe is clean as a whistle!
