1999 Chevrolet S-10
I like it
Pros: Fuel milage and comfort
Cons: Unable to tow a trailer
Brought the truck to drive back and forth to work (100 miles a day). The fuel econmy is good, 4cyl 5 speed. The capisity is not what I would buy again, it needs heaver springs and I would rather have the v-6. As with anything I brought it for one purpose and try to get more out of it.- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? Yes

2003 Chevrolet S-10 - 4x4 Crew Cab
Pros: Just like the size and styling.
Cons: Gas cap wiggles and check engine light (emissions) comes on. But I've learned to cope.
Advice: Buy a light color. My indigo (dark) blue seems to scratch a little easily.
I bought this for price, a little over a year ago. I was looking for a pickup that would seat my daughters, 6 and 3, yet not break the bank the way the Toyota 4-doors would have. Late summer, I landed this -- loaded, with 4WD -- for $18,100 not including my trade-in. So far, so good. I love the look, the girls like riding in it and it has all the power I need. Ride, handle are excellent. I added a roof rack for a dash of difference. -

2004 Chevrolet S-10 - Base
Pros: 4 w D brakes
Cons: ground clearance
Advice: Buy it while chevy still makes it.
I owned a Dodge Dakota for 9 yrs and put over 140,000mile on it. I recently bort a chevy s-10 crew cab, and now wonder what I did with out 4doors. It has plenty of horse power. I take it on the outer beach about once a week, and it just goes. This 4.3 has been around a while and proved its self as a good engine. I looked at the Colorado before purchasing my s10. Infact I was even waiting for it to come out. But when I went home and did my homework. I hurried and ordered an s10. Some of the feature that the Colorado will not be getting, 4 wheel disc brakes, 250lbs of torq. -
2003 Chevrolet S-10 - LS 4x2 Extended Cab
Pros: The Look and the 4.3L V6 Engine
Cons: The Bouncy Ride
Advice: You MUST buy this vehicle with the V6 Engine.
The vehicle rides nice. It is bouncy even for a truck, but with all the features that the truck has I don't notice the rougher ride. -
2002 Chevrolet S-10 - Base 4x2 Extended Cab
Pros: Entry/exit room, head/leg room
Cons: Engine power
Advice: Make sure you test drive (remember it's a truck!!! =)
Bought it new, fantastic vehicle. No issues so far. The engine (v4 2.2) could have more pickup, but then it's a truck. Fantastic for carrying items, moving, ...almost anything. Great gas mileage, and excellent leg/head room -
2003 Chevrolet S-10 - Base 4x2 Extended Cab
Pros: 4.3L V6.
Cons: Braking system and bouncing feeling.
Advice: Get the V6.
An excellent value for the price. Going from a 99 stick escort and 35 MPG, it was difficult for me to even consider a pickup truck. However, Chevy has won me over. I love the power and V6 Vortec, I love the look & feel. Only thing I have noticed is it takes a while to stop. Brake system should have been designed better. Just today the ABS came on for no reason at 140 miles. Stopping feels very much underpowered. I also hate having to turn off Day Time Running Lights every time I get into the truck. THe extra power and room of the ext cab is definately worth the MPG sacrifice of a small commuter car as an escort! However it does seem to bounce a lot. I will be sad to see Chevy stop making the S-10.
