Pros: Comfort and appearance
Cons: anti-lock brakes are not standard
Advice: Test drive other 2 door coupes to be fair, because that is what the monte is!I have the Ls sport appearance package, I was interested in gas mileage more then performance so I stuck with the 3.4, I get on average 31 mpg, If I wanted high performace I would have waited for the g6 2 door coupe gtp!!
Pros: Steering wheel controls, sound system
Cons: small entry to back seats all though comfortable & roomy
Advice: When in doubt buy a monte carloLove it!! fast, sharp, loaded, great on trips (mileage & gas)
Pros: it will gitty up and go
Cons: nothing yet
Advice: test drive and judge for yourselfI bought the Tony Stewart 2005 SS model. What a sweet ride. This car will kick ass when you put it to the floor. Considered buying a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP but I like the styling of the Monte Carlo. Got a gread deal with Employee Pricing and all.
Pros: HEATED SEATS! How did I ever live without these!
Cons: Now the SUV's don't see ME....
Advice: test drive....test drive...test drive...and pay a little extra for the leather!I absolutely love this vehicle! I traded in my 2003 trailblazer. I got it loaded. I had to get use to the gas pedal though. I was use to my past 2 suv's. Even though I didn't get the SS, this car will still get up and go! I have to watch my speed more now. It drives great, has less wind noise than my trailblazer. Came with 3 months free xm. I haven't even set my regular radio stations because I haven't turned from XM! The phone feature is really cool too! The leather seats are really comfortable! The leather is a little softer than other cars that I have been in. I also don't feel like a 'soccer mom' anymore!
Pros: Looks and performance
Cons: Too many rattles at first, but Dealer looked after me
Advice: Some kind of striping, not the big ugly stuff either, to accent the fenders and quartersI went looking for a 4 door and ended up with my 2003 2 door Monte Carlo instead. As soon as i saw it, with it's bowtie headlights, radical roof and distinctive trunk lid, i had to test drive. On the highway it does all i want it to do and that is pass in a hurry if need be. This car has more than enough power without the harsh sound and poor gas mileage of the 3.8 ( I drive a 3.8 Impala at work and it's a pig compared to the 3.4 ) A tank of gas lasts me three weeks. It is a very unique looking car and i get alot of positive comments, there arn't very many here where i live and those that see it love it. Ignore my Zip, I'm from Canada!!
Pros: heritage inspired styling
Cons: really not much...
Advice: go for the 3.8...I've always loved the Monte Carlo's. The first Monte was released in 1970. It's come a long way. Does the SS nameplate deserve to grace this car? No. It doesn't deserve to grace anything with less than a V8 in it. having that said...it's a very good performance car for what it is. The 3.8L V6 pushrod is in my opinion a very good engine. No one seems to agree. It is. I wouldn't buy the 3.4 LS...at least get the 3.8. The supercharged 3.8 is amazing...but the naturally powered one scoots just fine. you'll get plenty of tickets wither way. 2004 Monte Carlo SS.
Pros: on star, comfort, performance, gas milage
Cons: slow rear defroster
Advice: shop and compare. Most value for money in my viewThis car get as good or better gas milage, and performance than most cars in its class.
