Cons: Air control feature
Advice: N/AThis sporty looking vehicle runs smoothly and nestles your body comfortably in its bucket seats. The steering, braking, and acceleration are all great and easy to manage while its dash is nice in appearance and easy to navigate through. The mileage is really good and, safety-wise, it's reassuring. As a perk, the sunroof is sweet! Good car, good value.
Pros: The sleek look & speakers
Cons: no sunroof...other than that, it's a GREAT car!
Advice: Test drive one and you'll see what I'm talking about! This car is great, as long as you take care of it like a baby it'll be a well worth purchase. Cheap car, great ride! I've had this car for over 3 years and have been driving it everywhere, so far I haven't had one problem with it, except for a flat tire due to a nail. I've driven other people's cars and I've noticed that the Cavalier has some great brakes! You don't have to slam your foot on the breaks to stop the car, it's very responsive. I like that!
Cons: Cosmetically-who thought of putting those AC controls there?
Advice: Turn right back around...the car you have now or even you bicycle is better!Everything SEEMED great. I've had this car in the garage for repairs more than I've had stops at the gas pump to fill it up. The cars rack & pinion is going out. It doesn't turn right, if you have the brakes on. It doesn't shift into 2nd gear. The CV joints need to be replaced. It has had a constant 'popping' noise since the 1st month I had it. Chevy says 'yup, there is a noise, but we don't know what it is so; must not cause a driving problem'. I've had the alternator replaced 4 times, the A.C. compressor replaced 2 times. The brake light comes on for no apparent reason. It overheats almost weekly, but again...no problem. It's the worse car anyone could ever own. I have owned several Chevys, but never again..
Pros: Size of the car
Cons: Consistent problems with oil leaks - since purchase (only at 50,000 km now)
Advice: Beware of very aware of GM warranties before purchaseI have a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and it has had problems since we first took it home. The car has 50,000 km on it and has had to have the main seals done a few times to stop oil leaks. The Oil pan has been replaced twice and and water pump has been replaced twice as well within the last 4 months. GM refused to reimburse the dealership for the repair on the oil pan because the report by the technician said the car was only sweating oil. Our car went another 2 months sweating oil onto our driveway until we were needing to put a quart of oil in once a week and then we had to take it back to the dealership. GM swears by their product and says it is a service problem with the dealership. I have taken it two different dealerships to get this problem resolved and it seems to be a GM product line problem. This will be the last Chevrolet we ever own. (I'm only 26, I imagine I will buy quite a few more cars in my lifetime!)
Cons: Location of front cup holders and no light in glove box.
Advice: Go for the LS Sport modelI absolutely love this car! I picked the LS Sport Coupe b/c it's sporty with fog lights, rear spoiler, chrome exhaust outlet, 16' chromed aluminum wheels, sunroof (optional), and it has 140 h.p. compared to 115 h.p. in the base model. It has comfortable seats that wrap around you. Really good heat/AC. Even though, the air controls are in a bad spot, they need to be moved up a little b/c it's hard to change the air controls if you have a drink in the cup holder. Which is minor to me. It has a great 6-speaker sound system (w/ CD/tape player) to be factory. The trunk has a net in the front of it, which is good for groceries, etc. so they don't slide around. Great gas mileage. It's roomy to be a 2-door compact car. Anyone that has complaints about the 2002 Cavalier, must be talking about the base model b/c I would not have boug
Pros: The stereo and speakers are okay
Cons: The maintenance & does not hold its value
Advice: Dont buy this car, especially newTest drive was fine, owning it is another story. At the time of purchase I thought I was getting a good deal, but for a car that apparently does not hold its value it is impossible to get a good deal. I have owned this car for 2 years and have had several problems. There is a constant, loud clicking noise under the hood anytime the A/C runs. If your foot is not slammed to the ground on the brake petal, the car will hop forward (automatic trans. in mine. I have taken the car in for these problems and they say they fix it but they never do, taking in again for the same exact problems next week. I do not wish this car on anyone, and like I said it appears affordable up front but it is not in the long run!
