2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Base Coupe

    Pros: Looks nice

Cons: T-tops, transmission, lack of durability

Advice: make sure you are willing to put a lot of $$ into it when it has problems.

I'm a huge Camaro fan, always wanted one, so I bought one off of the showroom floor. It was an awesome car for the first month. Then, the rear defroster blew out and I had to have it replaced. After owning it for a few months, I felt the transmission slip a couple of times when I was only going about 30mph. The mechanic said that my transmission was going to have problems. After about 6 months, the T-tops started to leak, and the car would shake at about 65mph. I took the car in to the shop when I couldn't figure out what the squeeking noise was coming from under the hood. When they couldn't figure it out either, I decided to make the trade for a Mustang. They barely paid the car off, even though I had put $7,500 down on it 9 months prior. I owned my dream car, but it turns out it was a piece of junk.

    2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Z28 Coupe

    Pros: 325HP/350 lb/ft torque!!!!!!!!

    Cons: Feels overweight and undersized

Advice: Test drive and see if it fits first.

One word. Power! The SS and the Z28 have tons of it and for a very affordable price! Not the most comfortable, and it feels awkward and heavy, when it really isn't. Just being honest, these are some bad points, but the power MORE than makes up for it. I test drove a Z28 originally with the Hurst shifter and I'm now buying an SS with the Hurst shifter, as well. All I have to say is drive it, see if it's right for you. Try and find one if it is. Last year people!

    2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Z28 Coupe

Pros: The sound. I put a Flowmaster exhaust system on it that sounds better than any ss!

Cons: seats...uncomfortable. as for the backseats...i have yet to find somebody who could actually fit in them!

Advice: don't buy it if you have kids

Drives great however I think the body is too light for the engine. Meaning...you could lose control easily if you don't know how to really drive it.

    2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Z28 Coupe

    Pros: Performance and Appearance

Cons: This car has a tendency to throw you around over average to above average bumps.

Advice: You should get leather and either a Z28 or the SS and not the V6.

I bought a 2002 Camaro SS in January. This car is sweet. It has an automatic transmission,t-tops,leather,and well every other optional feature. This baby can fly to 60mph in only 5.5 seconds. More than that i love the roar of the engine. You cannot beat the sound of an American V8. I am thinking about putting a turbo system in there a few years down the road. It will be very costly though. I was originally goin to buy a stick shift Z28 but I saw this car for the zero percent fincancing and bought it right off the lot. Im getting more car for my money. I would have got a stick shift but well they are very hard to find as they are not being made anymore and everyone wants them.

    2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Z28 Coupe

Pros: High performance combined with excellent fuel economy.

Cons: Being a 2 door they are sometimes a bit awkward.

Advice: Shop the internet to find what you truly want.

My 2001 Z-28 coupe is a great auto. I shopped all over the southwest for a low content vehicle, so it took a while to find what I wanted. The manual shift trans (a no-cost option to the automatic) nets a 3.42 rear axle instead of a 2.73. I'm getting 19.5 mpg in town and 6 gears (top 2 are overdriven) is great for hiway use. GM has a great websight to assist an individual in locating cars nationwide. My experience was very positive.

    2002 Chevrolet Camaro - Z28 Coupe

Pros: Looks, Power and Road Control

Cons: Forced into 4th gear from 1st.

Advice: Shop around or order yours ASAP. There going fast...

I am the new owner of a 2002 SS SLP, red/ebony, 6sp Hurst, 345hp plus. It's a hot car. My only two problems are: founding a comfortable sitting position (for the clutch) and the 'shift kill' is a real pain. But there is a quick fix for that for $25 bucks. Great car for the money!
