Enders-Stevens Is 1st Female Pro Stock Champ in 2014 Chevrolet Camaro

Driving the Elite Motorsports 2014 Chevrolet Camaro dragster, Erica Enders-Stevens just capped off a historic motorsports season by becoming the first female racer to win the NHRA's Pro Stock championship. She's also just the third woman overall to earn a Pro class driver's title from drag racing's No. 1 sanctioning body, joining Shirley Muldowney and Angelle Sampey, both three-time champs in Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycles, respectively.

For Enders-Stevens, the Pro Stock title is the culmination of a drag-racing career that began in 1992, at the age of 8, and saw her advance to her first NHRA final in 2000, when she also was named Rookie of the Year in the Sportsman class. After moving up the ladder over the years, she became the first woman to win an NHRA Pro Stock event in 2012, garnered two more victories last year, then captured six first-place finishes this year on the way to the championship in her 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. Her final run of the season: a 6.526-second quarter mile, with a trap speed of 211.99 mph.

It's further worth noting that while Enders-Stevens was making history in her 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, she was joined in this year's NHRA ranks by a growing contingent of female drivers that includes Courtney Force, Alexis DeJoria and Angie Smith, all of whom also earned NHRA Pro class event wins this season.

It was a hard-fought battle for her and the Elite Motorsports Camaro team that came right down to the final round of the season finale. This is an amazing accomplishment, making Erica only the third female driver to win a NHRA national title.”

Additionally, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Enders-Stevens and her 2014 Chevrolet Camaro dragster, the Bowtie Brand also finished the season with its 20th NHRA manufacturer’s championship.
