Despite its own prodigious performance, it’s just not often that the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS gets mentioned in the same discussion as the Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Ferrari FF. But all that has just changed, at least if you’re discussing the cars of the Dubai police department.

Yep, Dubai’s finest have now added a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS to its squad of supercars, and why not?

“The Camaro is highly regarded around the world. It is the ideal car for Dubai Police as we look to upgrade our vehicles to meet the Emirate’s world-renowned standards in safety and security,” according to Dubai Deputy Police Chief Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina.

Certainly increasing the appeal of the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS: Its 6.2-liter V8 engine that’s capable of making 426 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, while also making short work of the 0-60 sprint—which it accomplishes in about 4.5 seconds. And with a top speed in excess of 155 mph, the Camaro patrol car should have no trouble catching up to criminals.

“We are delighted to be the first to respond to the Dubai Police’s request for assistance in adding high-performance patrol cars to their fleet. We felt that the Camaro would be the right vehicle for their needs,” said Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, managing director of Al Ghandi Auto, which is General Motors’ dedicated Chevrolet dealer partner in Dubai. “We are confident that the Camaro’s ability to respond rapidly, by virtue of its high performance V8 engine, coupled with its practical suitability for Dubai’s roads and ease of servicing, will make it an ideal patrol car for years to come.”
