Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: I love all the accessories and the supercharged engine...price too!
Cons: The gas mileage is low, but that's to be expected.
Advice: Test drive this one last...you'll never go back to the other dealerships.I was looking for a vehicle that could support my active lifestyle. I own a boat and love being outdoors. This SUV emcompasses all the features that I was looking for in a rugged go-anywhere vehicle. It's very roomy, nimble, and with the supercharged engine suprisingly quick. The accessories are what really makes this vehicle special. I can throw all the wetsuits, skis, and tubes on the roof and they are all dry when I get home. All I can say is take it for a test drive. You won't be disappointed!!
Cons: problems with electrical and airbag
Advice: do your homework - wait a year too newpurchased 9/2001 had car for 600 miles went into shop for 22 days for airbag module.went in again 1/2002 for same problem. It is still at the dealer. Also ignition noise in radio
Pros: Smooth ride and handling
Cons: Emergency brake location
Advice: The Alero is based on the exact suspension as the Grand Am, but the Alero's features are what sets them apartThe most exciting and exhilerating rides I've ever experienced in a car. The handling on the Alero blew away the competition. I've spent the last 3 months looking at Alero's, Grand Am's, and Malibu's. The Alero, by far, beat them all to the line. I've purchased my new Alero and couldn't be more satisfied.
Advice: Compare it with the upper end cars first - then go test drive a Maxima - then you will see how great this car is.I drive a lot of cars throughout the year, if you want a car that is just as good as a Lexus for a lot less money this is your car. You cannot go wrong.
Pros: The ride and cruse control
Cons: nothing. I have found nothing I do not like.
Advice: Find a dealership that puts the customer firstThis vehicle handles surprizingly well for an SUV. I drove my daughters 98 model on an 800 miles round trip and fell in love with it's ride. I purchased a 2002 and my wife fell in love with it. Prior to this, we owned a Saturn SL2. This vehicle rides like a Cadalac and the 4.3 V6 engine is known for its reliability if maintain properly.
Pros: Comfort, visibility, responsiveness
Cons: Many options should come as standard. Packaged options are strange combinations.
Advice: If you're looking for a great little 'do everthing' runabout. This your car!I took my time and read all the reviews, test drove 5 of the top rated SUVs and found the RAV4 was the best quality and comfort for my specific needs. Being a petite female ruled out many of the SUVs because of access, comfort or visibility. The RAV has great styling, looking so much like a Lexus, that people are always asking if it is. The seats fit perfectly..AND move up so my short legs can reach the peddles. The auto is much smoother than the standard that I drove. The engine is peppy, merging into freeways well, and 'kicking in' to pass while cruising at about 80. I don't need a gas guzzling speed demon for my 'runabouts' and trips. Steering was responsive and firm. The ride was car-like with very little sway or tilt in the test. Just all around...fun to drive. Seemed to have more punch and pick up than many of the higher priced or more powerful(Including CRV and some V6s).
Pros: 3rd door
Advice: run as fast as you can for the exit - do not uymy gmc sonoma with 4 cylinder engine which is the corporate twin to the s-10 was horrible. in less than 70,000 miles it had blew 2 head gaskets, the transmission went out, it went thru 3 u-joints, the alternator died, the 5-year extended coolant was rusty and need of a change in less than 2 years, and it broke a timing chain that incurred over $1200 in damage
