The navigation system in the Mazda3 is part of the Mazda Connect car connectivity system. The Mazda Connect system is designed to let drivers safely enjoy the features of their smartphone while behind the wheel. The Connect system in the Mazda3 comes with a high-mounted 7-inch full color touch screen display and allows the use of web applications and services, including Twitter, Facebook, and Yelp, as well as radio apps such as Pandora, Stitcher, and Aha (which lets you get instant access to your favorite news, talk radio, music, and social media). It can also be configured to provide maintenance, oil change, and tire rotation reminders. The software is upgradeable and can be updated to support new features or smartphones.

The Turn-by-Turn Navigation system features a choice of 2D or 3D perspective, traffic patterns based on historical data, on-screen speed limits, advance notice of upcoming exits and the appropriate driving lane, and 3 years of map updates. With the addition of Connected Services the system can provide fuel prices, weather and traffic information, and local search. The system can be configured using voice commands, the commander knob, or the touch screen (when the vehicle is stationary), however once you have started to input data into the system you must complete the task using the same input method. You can select a destination from a place of interest, a location on the map, one of your Favorites, a previous destination from your history, or an address or coordinate. The navigation system also has quick access to local hospitals, police stations, fire stations, and repair shops.
