New Car Rebates and Incentives - May 26, 2011
In the final week of May several automakers have geared up for the Memorial Day long weekend by offering excellent rebates and incentives on a number of different models. The 2011 Kia Rio compact sedan and hatchback kicks off this week list thanks to its available 1.9% financing or $1,000 cash back, followed by the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander mid-size SUV which can also be had with zero percent financing or a $1,000 cash rebate. The 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe provides mid-size shoppers with a 0.0% financing offer plus $500 cash back, or the option of a $1,750 total cash back rebate, while the 2011 Dodge Durango full-size crossover combines 1.9% financing with $1,000 cash back while also providing a $1,000 total cash back option. The last vehicle on this week's list is the 2011 Jeep Liberty, which can be picked up with zero percent financing or a hefty $3,000 factory cash rebate.
Memorial Day weekend typically kicks off the summer auto sales season with a flourish, which means that we will be back next week to take a look at the start of June's hot new car and truck rebates and incentives.
2011 Kia Rio
The 2011 Kia Rio provides first-time car buyer with an affordable sedan or hatchback (Rio5) option. In addition to being available in a stripped-down base model that offers cloth seats and a CD player, the Kia Rio can also be ordered with items such as air conditioning, power windows and door locks, cruise control and 15-inch alloy wheels.
The 2011 Kia Rio comes exclusively with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine that generates 110 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. Fuel mileage for the Rio shows as 28 miles per gallon city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with the standard five-speed manual transmission, and 27 miles per gallon city and 34 miles per gallon highway with the optional four-speed automatic installed.

2011 Mitsubishi Outlander
The 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander offers mid-size sport-utility practicality in an aggressively styled exterior package. Three rows of seating accommodate as many as seven passengers, and with the rear two rows out of the picture the Mitsubishi Outlander provides up to 73 cubic feet of interior cargo space. The SUV can also be ordered in the top of the line GT edition, which ups the number of luxury items on the features list to include sporty trim, the Fuse vehicle interface and automatic climate control.
The 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander starts out with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood that is good for 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. Fuel mileage for the entry-level motor, which is matched with a continuously-variable automatic transmission, is rated at 23 miles per gallon around town and 28 miles per gallon on the highway. An upgrade in the form of a 3.0-liter V-6 is also available, and it offers up 230 horses and 215 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with this engine, and fuel mileage drops to 19 miles per gallon city and 25 miles per gallon highway. Both motors can be equipped with all-wheel drive.

2011 Nissan Altima Coupe
The 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe is a stylish mid-size two-door that comes with decent interior room and the availability of the SR sport model. The Nissan Altima Coupe SR provides a stiff sport suspension system, a sunroof, 18-inch wheels and dual automatic climate control, making it both fun and comfortable to drive.
The 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe is initially powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that has been tuned to provide 175 ponies and 180 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy figures for this motor check in at 23 miles per gallon in city driving and 32 miles per gallon during highway cruising. The Altima Coupe 3.5 SR features a 270 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that also generates 258 lb-ft of torque and drops fuel mileage to 20 miles per gallon in stop and go driving and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. Each motor can be had with either a continuously-variable automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

2011 Dodge Durango
The 2011 Dodge Durango has been completely redesigned for the current model year, moving from the previous generation's truck-based architecture to a unibody design that gives the large crossover a much more comfortable and responsive ride. In addition, the Dodge Durango comes with seating for seven passengers as well as the ability to haul 84.5 cubic feet of total cargo with the rear rows folded forward.
An all-new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 serves as the base engine for the 2011 Dodge Durango, and the 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque that it churns out is managed by a five-speed automatic transmission. In rear-wheel drive trim, the V-6 delivers fuel mileage of 16 miles per gallon city and 22 miles per gallon highway. Full-time all-wheel drive is also available. The Hemi V-8 edition of the Durango provides 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, maintains the five-speed auto gearbox and adds the option of a part-time four-wheel drive system. Fuel mileage for the V-8 shows as 13 miles per gallon around town and 20 miles per gallon on the highway.

2011 Jeep Liberty
The 2011 Jeep Liberty shrinks the brand's famous off-road capabilities down into a compact SUV that can break trail with the best of them. Enthusiasts will want to order the Jeep Liberty in Renegade trim, which is specifically designed to tackle wilderness exploration thanks to its advanced four-wheel drive system, beefy tires, skid plates and tow hooks. This is on top of the SUV's five passenger seating and 64 cubic feet of total cargo room.
The 2011 Jeep Liberty's sole engine choice is a 3.7-liter V-6 that puts out 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque on its way to fuel economy figures of 16 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway. A four-speed automatic transmission handles the gear shifting duties for the Liberty, and two different four-wheel drive systems are available as options with the SUV.
