2011 is here and with it comes a fresh batch of rebates and incentives for the month of January. A long list of car companies are looking to start out the New Year strong, and as a result there are some excellent deals to be had on a variety of different automobiles, including luxury SUVs, sports cars, family vehicles and practical crossovers. Each of these special offers last until the end of the month, with several extending into February and beyond.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 January deals that are currently available across the United States.

01. 2011 Subaru Legacy

The 2011 Subaru Legacy is a mid-size sedan that also serves as the Japanese brand’s most luxury-oriented offering. The top level Subaru Legacy trim (the Limited) comes with items such as a sunroof, dual automatic climate control, Bluetooth integration, a Harman/Kardon sound system and heated leather seats. Optional equipment on the Legacy includes a touchscreen navigation system and an upgraded stereo, and all editions of the sedan include Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy starts out with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood that offers 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque while returning fuel mileage of 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway when fitted with the available continuously-variable automatic transmission. A six-speed manual transmission is also available. Legacy buyers can opt for a 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine to replace the base four-cylinder (256 horsepower, 247 lb-ft of torque), but fuel mileage drops to 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway due in part to its standard five-speed automatic transmission. A turbocharged edition of the vehicle’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit can also be had in the 2.5GT trim, boosting output to 265 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and matching the six-cylinder’s fuel mileage. A six-speed manual transmission is the only gearbox available with the turbo motor.

02. 2010 Volkswagen GTI

The 2011 Volkswagen GTI is the hot hatch edition of Volkswagen’s popular Golf compact car. The Volkswagen GTI has been designed to balance sheer performance and an involved driving experience with a level of premium comfort not often seen in a car of its size. The GTI can be ordered in both two-door and four-door body styles, and with the rear row of accommodations folded forward the vehicle can accommodate a maximum of 46 cubic feet of cargo.

Motivating the 2011 Volkswagen GTI is a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is included as standard equipment, while a six-speed dual clutch automated manual transmission can be ordered as an option. The latter also features manual shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. Fuel economy for the hatchback comes in at 21 mpg around town and 31 mpg on the highway.

03. 2011 Chevrolet HHR LS

The 2011 Chevrolet HHR LS represents the most affordable edition of the compact crossover wagon. The Chevrolet HHR LS can be ordered as either a five-passenger wagon or a two-passenger panel van, with the latter deleting the window glass from the vehicle’s rear doors and body panels. Standard equipment for the HHR LS includes air conditioning, power windows and door locks, OnStar and cruise control. Total cargo space inside the wagon amounts to between 58 and 63 cubic feet, depending upon which configuration is selected.

The only engine available in the 2011 Chevrolet HHR LS is a 155 horsepower four-cylinder unit that displaces 2.2-liters. Also capable of producing 150 lb-ft of torque, the motor provides fuel mileage of 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. Transmission options for the HHR LS include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.

04. 2011 Chevrolet Malibu

The 2011 Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size sedan that comes in a variety of trim levels that are designed to appeal to a wide range of different buyers. The Chevrolet Malibu can be outfitted to serve as a solid daily commuter or reliable family transportation, with top level trims offering premium features such as leather seats, automatic climate control and an optional sunroof.

Standard across the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu lineup is a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 169 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of twist. 05. 2011 Ford Mustang GT

The 2011 Ford Mustang GT is a muscle coupe that has been significantly revised for the current model year. Most notable is the inclusion of a new 5.0-liter V-8 with the 2011 edition of the Ford Mustang GT, an engine which is capable of producing 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. 07. 2011 Infiniti G Coupe

09. 2011 Infiniti FX50

The 2011 Infiniti FX50 is a mid-size crossover vehicle that shares a significant amount of its DNA with the brand’s sports car, the Infiniti G Coupe. This helps the Infiniti FX50 to feel far more involving from behind the wheel than a typical crossover, giving it a performance edge. The FX50 also features standard all-wheel drive, seating for five passengers and a maximum cargo rating of 62 cubic feet (with the rear seats folded forward).
